Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce form a nice little combo but now that they have Doc Rivers as their coach and the East is a lot tougher they won't go any further than the first round or beat out Philly for the division. Losing GP shouldn't be considered an afterthought either, watched them plenty this season and he's missed when he's not on the floor and Marcus Banks or Delonte West is. Al Jefferson will unfairly sit some more.
Point #1 Ok, now we all know that GP won't report to the Hawks. I mean, he almost didn't report to Boston, so there's just not friggin' way he'll report to Atlanta. Point #2 Since he obviously won't be with Boston, he's stated that he wants to be with a team from the West or a contender. With those two points in mind, what does this mean in terms of his availability to the Rockets? -- droxford
That's because the minute he signed with the Lakers, I put needles on his (and Malone's) voodoo doll. Damn, these trades are funny!
Why do you think he won't report? Unlike Jimmy Jackson, he can't be traded because the trade deadline has passed. He just need play 20+ games for ATL and become a free agent this season. It is not like he is locked long term. He won't get paid while he is not playing. I don't see any reasons he won't report.
Boston wasn't winning a championship any time soon. Atlanta is just as well off losing more games than winning. It would be in both Atlanta's and GP's interest to let him walk. Maybe Atlanta can work out some kind of deal where they just pay Gary for the portion of his salary not "picked up" by whatever team would pick him up.
Only sense I can make of it is they wanted to set themselves up to play Harrington exclusively at the 4 the rest of this season, since the hope is for the Joshes to be manning the wings for a while to come.
This should be interesting. Walker and Ainge blasted each other in the press after Walker was traded. Now they can pretend none of that happened? It must be extremely uncomfortable for everyone involved.
