Wal-Mart and Ikea are two of the scariest places on earth. I'd rather rip an eyeball out and dip my balls in BW3's blazing sauce than go to either of those places again.
Write a letter and sound sincere or else they'll sick their law scripts out and it will be a waste of time. Walmart probably has more lawsuits than most places. If some idiot knocked over my kid and started laughing, I would take him aside and give him a thunder kick in the ass so hard, his future kids would feel it.
demand to pull up the videos for that day and time... walmart has some of the best security systems for any company. im sure they have the event video taped. if you can see that the employee is laughing after hurting your daughter, take action.
Would you have slipped had you not been chasing your brother? I think it would have been different if you were just walking and minding your business.
No kidding, people's first reaction is to sue, like they were violated. accidents happen if no one was hurt who gives a crap.
So true. I'm not a parent, but I just don't get how parents get so upset about these things-especially if they aren't at the "scene of the crime". I was a teacher for 8 years, and to see the excuses parents make for their children makes me sick. I'm not saying this child in particular did anything wrong. Just get the facts straight before actions are taken.
Bingo. I'm not a lawyer yet, so maybe one can give you a more definitive answer, but good luck trying to prove negligence on the employee's part if there is no physical harm. If I remember correctly, the four pillars of negligence are: 1. Duty of Care 2. Breach of that duty 3. Cause 4. Harm All four of these must be satisfied to prove negligence. Little kids cry all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean they are really hurt at first. Also please, don't try to bring legal action upon every person who makes "your princess cry". If she has physical harm that you feel you must be monetarily compensated for, then ask to see the tapes and proceed with legal action depending on what the tapes show. Otherwise, you can try to get the kid fired, if you feel that is necessary or you can just voice your displeasure to the company in a strong way and refuse to shop there anymore. However, I agree with the poster who said not to jump to conclusions without seeing the tape; for all we know grandma might just be covering her ass for getting her granddaughter hurt.
if you (not talking about you in particular cwebber) want your child to not be a whining crybaby, don't go running towards him/her every time they fall down. if you notice alot of times, they don't start crying until you start going towards them. my sister does this with my nephew all the time. for every little "boo-boo", it's pamper time. just let the kid work it out themself. there's a time to protect and a time for learning how to cope with "accidents".
If your daughter has an injury that's visible, have her hold a newspaper, with the date clearly legible, and take some photographs, then see an attorney, then your daughter will probably be seeing a doctor via the lawyer. Good luck. I would be P-Oed as well, if the guy laughed. I don't find this as amusing as some of you do. She could have been seriously injured, and may have been. How do you know, unless she's checked out?
Now that I am a parent -- and actually it started a little earlier when my sister became a parent -- I get annoyed when people say so-and-so should do x or y with their child. It's not so easy. I'm not sure which is more annoying, the ones who haven't raised children themselves and are talking out of their butt, or the ones that do have children and assume other people's children operate just like their own. I now regret some of the offhand assumptions I've made about people's parenting choices and try to be very circumspect about making judgements now.
i understand and it makes perfect sense. i don't have any children. i've studied psychology (i know that doesn't make me an expert at any level) and took some behavioral modification classes, and there's alot of empirical evidence that suggest certain actions lead to certain outcomes, such as conditioning. but sometimes even parents don't know how to be parents.
i hate walmart. i bought a video game from there. when i got home i put it in my ps2 and it kept getting a disc error....i couldnt figure out why. then i took it back and told that the game didnt work in my ps2. the lady looked at it and said that i was trying to cheat them. it turned out that the disc was a blank cd. the cd looked real on top. but if u looked real close u can tell someone scanned the image and put a sticker on the cd. i was pissed. so when i bought the same game at the same walmart, i opened it up in the store and there was the same thing...i eventually got a refund and never shopped walmart again.
SooOOOoOOooo... are you saying WalMart never opened the game to check that anyone before it got to them had already opened the game??!?!?!?! Those bastards. They should open EVERY DVD and EVERY Video Game to make sure we consumers don't get gipped., huh?
no they shouldnt open every game and dvd, but when a customer complains that something is wrong with the game they should take the time and effort to make sure its not their fault.
It can be dangerous at Walmart, in the evenings after 9, the night stockers get the pallets of merchendise from the back and stack it up and down the aisles.
