for those applying to law school, what are your majors? i'm currently a UH biochemistry major and really want to work in law (maybe patent or some sort). however, im kind of worried about being able to keep my gpa up high, though i am still in my freshman year. not sure if i should switch majors or not.
If you want to do patent law, you pretty much have to have a degree in sciences or engineering. Keep those grades up as high as you can. I'm in law school after dropping out of computer science, and I'm kicking my own butt for not sticking with it.
When accepting the waitlist send ut a letter saying that they are your top choice and convey how much you want to go there. Also make sure to send ut any additional/new recommendations, grades, letters, or achievements that you have obtained since applying. It might not help too much but it won't hurt. One of my best friends from college is a 2l at utlaw now and she was originally waitlisted and didn't get it until July. It's possible. goodluck. jackfruit: working (obviously dependant on the job) will certainly help you when applying down the road. The average incoming 1L is 27yrold. Some schools (northwestern for exampmle) valuable work experience more than other, but it will help whereever you apply.

Sent you a message through the board. Don't want to give away too much here. (Secret Identities and all). Can be reached at the email address I sent you or at mulderfoxx@gmail.com
My major is political science. I didn't become a polisci major b/c I wanted to go to law school, I really enjoy politics so naturally this interested me. If the law school thing wouldn't have worked out I would have taught and tried to go to grad school. When I sent my reply back (via email, their preferred medium) I asked them if I could submit an additional recommendation, etc. But I haven't gotten a response. This was last Saturday when I sent that off. I actually got an award this evening that I think would look good, the Irving O. Dawson award for top polisci graduate (even better, $400 stipend). I hope they allow me to submit these things, plus my final transcript. We'll see. I guess other than submitting these things all I can do is hope and pray now.
I feel for all of you who are being waitlisted... even though I am currently applying for graduate studies in urban planning. I applied to six universities, with three rejected my application outright and the other three placed me on the waitlist. All I can do right now is to pray for a miracle after submitting my published work...
Definitely submit a record of the award you received. It can only help. It certainly won't hurt you and can only help you. give me an email esoto@alumni.princeton.edu my father used to be a professor at the law school and on the admissions committee for utlaw, and i know some people there. i'll let you know if there is anyroom or what you can do to help your case.
