I'd think Barry would be a possibility. Plus, you don't have to have someone absorb a full contract. If the amount of outgoing is greater than the amount of incoming, you can reduce payroll.

Before we sign Wafer to a deal, I'd like to know the status of his back. The guy's value is in his offense, and his ability to take it to the rack is a major part of his game. I don't want another player with a potentially chronic back problem. I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned it. I would like to resign him to a reasonable deal, but not without knowing, for sure, about that particular tidbit in Von Wafer's cookie jar. Sure, we'll hear that he'll have to pass a physical before being signed, but does anyone have the inside scoop?

So, fellow ClutchFans, what's up with Wafer's back?

No idea how his back is feeling, but judging from the way he was moving for the rest of the postseason, it doesn't appear to be a problem. I can tell you, though, based on my personal experience with a herniated disc, there's really no telling how long the effects will sporadically linger. The only surefire way to make sure the problem is taken care of is surgery, but that is super risky in his profession and at his age. I'm sure he won't do it. The body often sorts the problem out itself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it acted up now and again for the rest of his career.

I've had surgery for a herniated disc (L5/S1) and suffer from chronic pain, so my question wasn't based entirely on wondering how Wafer's back is doing. It's also wondering how in the heck he was able to play with it!

Okay, gotcha. So, I'm sure you shared in my sense of awe when they showed Von out there in the shootaround before Game 6.
