During the summer league.....TAYLOR looked good, both on offence and defence....but its just the summer league...wafer a very good shooter but a very poor at the defensive end. it'd be good to see taylor play a liitle...give him some minutes in preseason
Good catch. It's well known, to those who pay attention, that Wafer has a bad back. It's not simply his lack of defense and intelligence on the court, or the fact that he had a tantrum and yelled at his coach in the middle of the playoffs after being taken out, that's keeping Von Wafer out of the league. Sure, they don't help him at all, but it's the back. Maybe he has had a miraculous cure. Who knows? Won't affect his brain, though.
Taylor is a ton better of defense. Their offensive skills are similar. Wafer is probably a more mature shooter, but Taylor is a stronger driver (more bulk, similar jump). Neither of them pass. Overall, I'd take Taylor. But it's not like anyone on this forum likes Von Wafer but hates Jermaine Taylor, right? No one's that jaded, right?
Taylor has more potential imo if he is already getting a thread saying "Wafer vs. Taylor" and Taylor is my boi 2010-2011 Jermaine Taylor coming out season  (hope i dont jinx him )
So all of a sudden its all about my emotions that he's such a good PROFESSIONAL http://www.interbasket.net/news/2009/11/24/olympiakos-sends-von-wafer-home-from-practice/ Olympiakos sends Von Wafer home from practice From Sport24.gr (via TalkBasket): Olympiacos’ coach Panagiotis Giannakis has sent former Houston Rocket guard Von Wafer home after clashing with one of the coaching staff. The problem with Wafer comes days before Olympiacos plays some very important games against Partizan and rivals Panathinaikos. Before signing with the Greek powerhouse, Wafer had clashed with Rocket’s coach Rick Adelman over playing time during the 2009 NBA playoffs. Adelman sent Wafer out of the gym for his insubordination. Von Wafer, who along with fellow NBAer Linas Kleiza was signed by the Greek club over the summer, is averaging 7.7 pts in three Euroleague games thus far. Wafer played five seasons in the NBA, averaged 6.2 points in 13 minutes a game.
I guess you haven't played 2k10... Taylor would destroy him on. Think a 6'4 Lebron James lite. That's what JT is on there thanks to a few upgrades courtesy of the insider. too bad you can't use him online though
Taylor he's more mature and has more potential than wafer. plus Von failed his physical cuz of back issues. as much as I loved Von and his explosive style ima have to go with Taylor at the moment
he gets separation much easier than Von and he will smash it on anyone. plus he plays better defense. Too bad he was move to the resevre list in the final roster update. he was my secret weapon on the perimeter whenever I was in a bundle and needed a quick 2. if he was still on the rotation I would gladly show you what I'm talking about but he isn't. but you can put him on the rotation yourself offline and see. double trigger crossover, drive to the basket & and dunk. simple as that. you can score 40+ with him easy lol.
good advice to a young gun Try to stay with a team early on in your career. There's more benefit than harm.

BTW got robbed in the NCAA Dunk contest cause he went first.

I caught the word that JT was a projected first rounder and they bailed because of his size....and ball handling
Isn't this like the 30th Versus thread this week? Can we finally give these a rest? Nobody really gives a crap about Rafer/Wafer or any other former Rocket versus any current or past Rocket. They are buried to us and are NOT coming back. Let them lay in peace. And for god's sake, enough of the polls on the same subject!! If you want a poll, start one about who likes ridiculous polls about former Rockets coming back to the team. Maybe Stevie Franchise likes them. And yes, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning
wafer spent 3 years on 4 different teams before he finaly reached his potential... JT saw more PT in his rookie year than wafer did in his first 3 We can make a accurate comparison of the two when JT has played 4 years in...
