Maturity? The guy is a great citizen and a complete blue collar, workhorse... His maturity is fantastic.
Question for you. Who is younger and who shows the better work ethic? Given that both are not hyper talented I would go with the younger player who has declared Houston his home so far.
More about Wafer: lacks court awareness,iQ, doesn't defend, doesn't pass, doesn't rebound, that makes him a ultra one dimensional black hole.
Both have major deficiencies JT comes cheap, has shown he wants to stay on the floor, has the mental approach and WILLINGNESS, bad passing because of slow movement, bad ball handling sometimes, showed promise in rebounding department and flashes of good passing and improvement in jumper Wafer is a better offensive talent marginally, lacks defensive awareness, cannot work with certain coaches, does not feed off camaraderie and good locker room atmosphere, most importantly he has that Kobe mentality but not nearly close to Bean Bryant talent wise and again, huge ATTITUDE problems
Wafer has also been in the league longer. I think w/ more PT, JT will surprise some people. Wafer may be the better player right now but give JT a season or so. I think he's got more athletic ability than Wafer and isn't a head case.
Ah, sweet irony. Something tells me the meltdown Wafer had in the playoffs confronting Adelman on the benchmakes him the knucklehead here, not JT.
You know I like Taylors moves, but I just haven't seen him do enough finishing - both inside and outside - to really feel like he's a viable option for some decent playing time. Misses lots and lots of shots. Maybe he reads this and gets it together ... last year I posted something about Lowry not being able to shoot and it seemed like just after that he starting making some outside shots. But at this point I'd say Wafer ... but I really want Taylor to get it in gear, make the leap from freshmen to sophomore, and steal some PT.
Wafer wouldn't have gotten minutes on last year's team. He's also not half the defender Taylor is already. Remember Adelman starting Taylor against the Lakers for his defense on Kobe? Kobe would've dropped 60 on Wafer.
Wafer is a better shooter. Taylor might have more potential as a defender. But pretty similar, I think.
Yeah, they both have their plus and minuses. It wouldn't hurt ny feels though if Taylor was out and Von was in. Von was instant offense, this team would benefit in the short run with Von sitting at the end of the bench. I say "short run" being the fact Von is still looking for the big pay day, he seems very impatient, a bit of a lose cannon. Haven't see a lot of Taylor, but haven't been impressed. I don't see what all the hype is about. Von would fit perfectly(used in certain situations), but the fact of the matter is Taylor is our man. Morey is not gonna pay more $$$, when he has a cheaper appreciating asset with Taylor.
I wasn't saying JT is a knucklehead, I meant maturity as in learning the ropes in the NBA. He's still a young pup to me. The guy isn't a bad guy by no means from what I've read and seen, but I'm not ready to hand him the NBA Sportsmanship Award just yet.
Other than the fact that Wafer has proved his shooting at the NBA level, what does he have over Taylor in ANYTHING? Wafer's TS% before coming to Houston: .241, .347. Taylor's TS% in his limited role as a rookie: .460 Taylor does have a lot of Wafer's shortcomings, but much less so because unlike Wafer, Taylor has the benefit of the Rockets coaching staff since coming out. If anything, he's like the more polished, more team-friendly version of Wafer.
Yeah i haven't really seen much from taylor in the nba, but wafer has shown us a lot and i think if he wouldn't have gotten full of himself and blew up on the coach he would still be here.
BTW guy has hops as well and his J is coming along too guy, I focus on the positives.... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/29YWyZ1rZoo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/29YWyZ1rZoo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Why does Rafer get to go against Taylor? Maxwell won the last match. It should be Maxwell vs Taylor now.
Wafer vs. Budinger would be the more pertinent argument as far as the Rockets are concerned. Just like with Ariza taking over for Artest when he left that year, the debate should be between the player that had the spot and the one who took it. If that's the case, I'm fully confident we upgraded
