or- play better, and sell high. I think it is a combination of skill set and right situation. obviously, he would have never seen the court this much if there hadn't been so many injuries. Furthermore, his shooting ability fits well into the movement/motion offense with adelman.

Im not taking anything away from his great week of play, but I think that he is also at the right place at the right time.

Nice to have players on our team that are doing that though, right? We have had enough of the wrong place or wrong time players.

For January he's putting up 15 points, 2.5 rebounds , 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals in about 28 minutes a game, all while shooting 54% from the field and 46% from 3. This kid may turn out to be a rocket for a long time. Looking forward to him, Brooks, and Landry's futures as they continue to improve.

If Luther Head can score 30 in a game, there is no way Wafer can't.

Btw, Okur just scored 43 today, but then I noticed Yao's career high is just 41. No wonder Yao was outplayed by Okur in the playoff.

Someone should make a mix of what Von Wafer has done in a Rockets uniform. 7 three's, Amazing block shot, Celtics last 3pt shot, and all his dunks!

I don't get it. The shell of himself right now McGrady is averaging a better line, yet he gets dogged. Wafer has worse stats and he's the second coming.

Sure he's a nice surprise, but it's not like he's dominating games and shouldn't have been in the conversation for player of the week.

Is there any credibility left on this board? Or, are we just waiting for the next flavor of the month?

    January
    NYK 15
    @ OKC 14
    @ BOS 12
    @ PHI 14
    @ ATL 17
    @ TOR 18

Shooting 56.45% (35/62). I want to see TMac do that.

    Clearly.

Because Wafer is playing within the team concept and the shots are more evenly distributed.

Wafer's STAT line is more impressive than Tmac's because he doesn't need to dominate the ball to get his points etc...

The rest of the team plays better because they are contributing too....

That is the difference....it is not all about stats...it is about team efficiency, and when Wafer is in right now, they are better than when Tmac is in.

You probably also forgot where we found Wafer, and where we found Tmac. We got Tmac by a Huge blockbuster trade, he is our franchise player. Yet we just got Wafer for free, coming straight from the D-League...

People expect more out of McGrady.

Who's leading the Rockets in assists?

This whole dominating the ball thread is a myth. You've got no data to back that.

Are you really a closet WNBA fan? They really share the ball and play in the team concept. In the NBA, stars dominate the game.

One other point. I checked the plus/minus for this season of McGrady versus Wafer. The idea that the team plays better when Wafer is in instead of McGrady is a MYTH. M.Y.T.H.

The numbers do not back it up in anyway. Tracy dominates Wafer in plus/minus, even if you only look at the past 10 games, a.k.a. the Wafer era. In the last 10 games, Wafer actually has a negative +/-:

    Top Individual Players
    Player 1 Team + - +/- Min +/- /Min G

    S. Battier Rockets 710 -628 82 333:02 .246 10
    T. McGrady Rockets 721 -695 26 351:57 .073 10
    B. Barry Rockets 318 -296 22 160:03 .137 10
    L. Scola Rockets 631 -612 19 317:20 .059 10
    A. Brooks Rockets 494 -480 14 258:47 .054 10
    C. Landry Rockets 386 -382 4 215:06 .018 10
    J. Dorsey Rockets 8 -10 -2 6:22 -.314 3
    R. Artest Rockets 572 -576 -4 296:00 -.013 10
    V. Wafer Rockets 457 -467 -10 222:32 -.044 10
    M. Yao Rockets 600 -610 -10 315:25 -.031 10
    C. Hayes Rockets 240 -258 -18 128:16 -.140 10
    L. Head Rockets 223 -247 -24 117:26 -.204 10
    R. Alston Rockets 637 -677 -40 330:48 -.120 10

For the season, Tracy has nearly triple the +/- per minute of Wafer. This team is not better without McGrady. Real fans need to cheer on his rehab and quit making up BS.

    Smooth,

I am a team ball fan.....it is what wins championships......and in the playoffs.

In a well run read and react team, everyone gets assists, everyone is a threat, everyone can score the ball.

If the other team only has to worry about one player, don't you think that makes the team easier to guard and to slow down and in some cases stop them?

This is primarily why the team led by Tmac has failed, other teams let him get comfortable dominating the ball and then at the end they stop him...and force someone else to make plays, and those someone elses have been standing around watching all game long, they are not ready.

But if you have a team concept there are other options, that is what Adelman was brought in to do, help the team find other options and ways of winning when Tmac and Yao are clamped down on....

A worthless stat.....Plus/Minus....it depends on whom you are playing, whom you are playing with....just worthless.
