Someone who believes Kobe is better than Jordan can justify anything from anywhere. Where is goodbug though? This is a thread that I am willing to agree with him re Kobe vs. Wade.
They shouldn't have been. The Mavs showed all season that they couldn't check elite SG's and their dumb coach is the one that kept fouling Shaq early and putting the team in the penalty.
Have you ever thought Kobe's success versus LBJ has more to do with Kobe rolling with Pau Gasol and LBJ rolling with Antwan Jamison than their actual ability? That Celtics series you keep talking about LBJ amost averaged a triple double. I don't see why that makes Kobe better than him because when you compare their individual performances LBJ trumps him in every possible way.
Kobe will have the more celebrated career than Wade, and has for the majority of the time been the better player. However for the last 2+ years Wade has been better both offensively and defensively. Neither player is bad in the clutch
LeBron can do things that Kobe can't and never has been able to do. He has been the best player in the world since he was 22 years old. He still has a lot to accomplish, but LeBron is on pace to pass Kobe and enter very rare company.
According to Calvin Murphy, Lebron may have come back to Cleveland but didn't because his teammates had some kind of orgy with his mom. He predicted that James would mail it in and leave after the season was over. I think that his tank job in the playoffs last year had everything to do with the delonte and his mom thing.
u mean by making his teammates worse? by giving up on the team? by being the most hyped player ever? or by not winning a ring? lebron is physically stronger than kobe, but his skills are not nearly as good, after 13 years in the league kobe is the last player of his generation in the elite category, after he was compared with t-mac, vc, he's now compared against wade and lebron, what do you think will happen to lebron after his physical dominance diminishes? probably more like steve francis than kobe
Last two years Kobe has averaged 27 ppg an about 6 boards and 6 assist. Two rings and winning finals MVP both times. So he is not elite?
He's clearly elite still. Some people just get carried away during discussion. However, he has not been the best player in the league the last 2-3 years. I'm not really sure how long he was the best player in the league because there were a number of years where Shaq and/or Duncan were better players.
Yes. To you, the best is the best player on the best team. To those who say Lebron or Wade is better, they look at the individual's productivity and don't take off points for having a worse supporting cast.
everytime lakers lose there's a thread like this that pops out, even for the christmas day game, did wade out produce kobe? doesn't look so to me, yet wade is/has been better than kobe thread comes out based solely on the fact that the heats won, so why can't kobe base his claim on what he has accomplished?
i like it...reincarnation of bonbug. As for the Kobe/Wade thing..sure why not, but only since this year.Wade is at the peak of form, while Kobe is almost at the twilight of his (he DID start playing at the age of 17, afterall). I think the real question is will Kobe be able to do enough to win a another ring in the near future, and cement his legacy as the greatest player of his generation. IMO he's already in the class of rare air, but many people will disagree...thus the only thing he can do is to keep winning. Not neccessarily dominate his matchup day in and day out, but just win.
2 years after the most lopsided trade this generation? Where was he before Gasol got there? Demanding a trade right?
Personally, I still don't think another ring cements his legacy as the best player of his generation. Tim Duncan is the best, IMO. Four championships as the best player on his team. Multiple MVPs. He led one of the most consistent teams, always winning 50+ games. And in his prime, he had an impact on the defensive side of the ball that Kobe couldn't match, despite Kobe's superior offensive talents.
