He said it "could" be planter fascitis, although that could be wishful thinking on his part (that perhaps iit's just a bruise). Bad news for the Heat. Those things (planter fascitis) can drag out for quite a while.
If it is plantar, he'd be smart to call it a season right now. This ultra-compact schedule is unforgiving, and plantar fascitis has been a career killer for more than a few guys in this game.
Calling it a season is a bit much. But may be best to hold him out until near the playoffs. The Heat don't really need a high seed. If their 3 guys are clicking on all cylinders, they can win the championship on the road the entire way.
Great advice, but I have a hard time seeing Wade taking it. He should, though. This is no ordinary season, as you pointed out so well.
Whoa there! I've had it before and it is horribly painful and needs to be treated, but it is far from a career killer. After a few weeks of professional treatment and therapy he will be fine.
i've had it off and on also and would say that he can likely make it through the season....but by the 2nd/3rd round of the playoffs that foot is gonna chronically HURT to the point where it will definitely affect his jumping/cutting/lateral D
It doesn't have to, but it depends on the person and how seriously they take it. Mark Price never recovered and had to retire. With better shoes and treatment, it hasn't been the plague it used to be, but if you try and play through it you'll absolutely do permanent damage and never be the same.
They will be smart and play it safe because he has to be near 100% for the playoffs. This could end up like the 2005 ECFs when Wade suffered a rib injury against the Pistons and it cost Miami the series.
That's what they'll do if they're smart, bringing him back gradually towards the end of the season, so he'll be ready at the right time. In other words, have him miss the bulk of the regular season, aiming for the playoffs.
Plantar fasciitis sux. Personal experience. And once you have it, you could more or less be dealing with it for awhile, sometimes even forever, depending on your foot/feet and level of activity. They need to shut him down until later in the season. Period.
I feel for him, i just recovered form it.. - i had it last junse and wasnt properly treated till like later august - it hurts a lot, especially when u get out of bed and b4/or after games - however i still feel some soreness but with cutom orthotics and some other treatments it is better - i belive that with a couple of weeks rest, having top medical attention, and being a pro athlete, he will be fine
