then I don't have a clue...... I honestly haven't watched him since he left the Rockets, but while he was here, all I ever got from him was, "Okay, I'll be your leader, if you want me to be..... " and then he wouldn't.
Sounds like a whole lot of people here share my sentiments about these two guys. Good. I'm not going crazy. To me, the defining game for the Cavs this year was, well... game 7 against Detroit. The game that ended their season. Lebron had SINGLE-HANDEDLY played Detroit to a standstill at halftime, and he ended as (by far) the game's leading scorer, AND his team's leading rebounder. In fact, Hughes was the only other player on the Cavs to break double-digit points (with 10, to Lebron's 27). Think about it: Cleveland was down by TWO at halftime. And no other Cleveland player was doing ANYTHING. So Detroit said "I know! Let's double- and triple-team Lebron every time down the floor, and dare anybody else to beat us." And they didn't. They got crushed. Wade is a great, great player. And maybe at this point he closes out games better. Maybe. But you can't tell me Wade would've brought the Cavs any farther. In fact, I'm not so sure he could've brought them to Detroit at all, let alone to game 7. And I think I'll go so far as to say that Wade rarely has to deal with the sort of defensive pressure Lebron does, because he's constantly surrounded by better players that the opposing defense has to pay attention to. Don't get me wrong... it sounds like I'm bashing Wade, but I'm not. And I don't think Lebron is THAT far ahead of him. But, IMO, he IS ahead of him.
Well said. I'm clearly no Wade-basher, but what LeBron did against Detroit was amazing because his teammates were garbage. The Cavs won all 3 games Hughes missed and Big Z was a big Z'ro. IMO, Wade would not have gotten the Cavs to halftime of a game 7 down by only 2. It probably would have ended at 5 games. While I think LeBron is better, does that mean he would have improved on Wade's incredible NBA Finals performance? Not necessarily, and that Finals performance puts Wade in a special echelon LeBron won't join until he does likewise.
And I'll agree with that. I just disagree with people who think Wade is better simply because his team wins more.
That's annoying! Where championships count the most is when we compare great players with great players not great players with role players. For example; Tim Duncan and Charles Barkely are close as players but Tim Duncan is rightfully thought of as the greater player because of championships. So championships do count when rating players, afterall that is why they play the game.
that's a pretty big assumption. To me, Lebron and Wade are like Superman and Batman. Each has their own merits and their own superhuman abilities, it's just one has been genetically endowed with more (Lebron) while the other has had to maximize with what he has (Wade). It just depends on who you like more: Superman or Batman.
You're a headcase, if you're comparing these two to begin with.... especially if it's just a "who's the better player" That's like comparing John Stockton to Kevin Garnette.... they're totally different kinds of players, and neither of them has any rings.
I am interested in watching them perform in international games. In NBA, it is just a matter of who gets the calls. Sad.
That's true. I've heard some people talk about starting Wade, Kobe, and Lebron! I think Wade's going to suck no matter what, Kobe has the skills to succeed but we'll see if he uses his head, and Lebron is going to be the best of three because of his combination of all-around skills and unmatched physical gifts.
The fact is all three are extremely quick, all three can jump out of the building and all three can shoot. Conclusion: None of them will have trouble scoring because they will be unguardable now that the psycho-neurotic LB isn't coaching them.
None of those physical attributes matter unless they're just head and shoulders above everyone else like Lebron is; that man is faster, stronger, and quicker than everyone else. Wade and Bryant are not as physically gifted as Lebron but Bryant has the skills that can work in international competition, I don't think Wade has them. How many times did you see Wade catch and shoot? How many times did you see him score in a play that wasn't a designed ISO? Do you think he'll get as many blocking calls without the benefit of a no-charge zone under the basket? How many 3s has he hit in his career? Do you think players will give him a huge cushion to keep him from driving knowing that they have a guy waiting for him underneath the basket at all times?
