I hate tatoos, they look trashy and thugish. The human body looks much better without them. Do art on inanimate objects.
Did he contribute his 10 percent earnings before or after taxes? If it was after, then he's not all that giving..
I think Bill Simmons nailed it when he likened Wade to Hakeem. Fierce competitor, but also really humble and really a gentleman.
MJ does have a tattoo/tattoos. But, back to topic, Wade absolutely should be one of the faces of the league. He plays the right way, and he's a good guy on and off the court.
Why do people hate Shaq so much? Generally Speaking he is a good guy more like a regular guy . . . by far he is less of a thug/badguy/etc than 90% of the league he believes in education and he is deep into the Law and Order thing he even put his time and effort into it. . . . so . . why hatred of Shaq? Rocket River
Right now I don't like Shaq because he is holding or going to hold back Wade's development. Shaq's contract is so big that Wade probably won't be able to get his own roleplayers that fit him instead of Shaq. And a few years from now, Shaq is going to be injury prone/ or slow.
Agree. Shaq was also a big arrogant baby in his latter years as a Laker - refused to get in shape, demanded more money, and lamest of all - threatened not to play defense if he didn't get more touches. He's one of those ego-driven guys who starts pouting if he's not treated and regarded as "THE MAN" on his team. It will be interesting to see what how he reacts to all the attention heaped on Dwyane Wade. When Miami loses this series , you can be sure that Shaq will start complaining about not getting enough "touches" or being benched at the end of games. The media is in love with him though. Last years near-MVP was a complete joke (he wasn't even MVP on his team). This year's First-Team is iffy at best.
I've definitely been on the Wade bandwagon for the last couple of years. I realize that Lebron is already anointed as the next coming of MJ, I can't help but like Wade more. Part of it is the underdog role. No he's not a rags-to-riches story, but very few people were talking about him (or Bosh) during or after the draft. It was all about Lebron, Carmelo, and Darko. Yet, Wade has shown the most in the NBA thus far. You can't help but admire the way he he consistently gets to the bucket and finishes. And, no, I don't think it's just because Shaq is there because he's shown the ability to put the team on bis back with or without Shaq. He just seems like a very heady player with relatively good shot selection and ability to produce in the clutch. And yes, there is something to the way he carries himself on the court. He's not crying after every foul, or showing off his nipple, or banging his head after every play. It's a cliche, but he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played. He's everything we wish Stevie could have been, but no need to re-hash that.
i have been on hte band wagon since his rookie year...even more so now. i am very curious...mj has tattoos? i undertand the whole "no tattoo" thing. it does give a better image. of course tattoos does not define a person (i have one and i feel like i am not a bad person/i am a praticing christian), but people these days are quick to judge. i am not in that spot light, dwade is. in conclusion...dwade is the man!
D. Wade for sure is demonstrating on court exactly what Francis should have. His shot selection and patience is a bit better than Steve's. Plus Wade handles the leadership role better - confident without being overly obnoxious about it. The part that Wade doesn't get any critique on for whatever reason are his turnovers. Everyone got on Steve for giving the ball away too much (Not playing a 'true' point guard). Wade's a turnover machine in his own right and he for sure doesn't play as a point guard when he plays at the position. Their assists and steals are fairly close, not like Wade blows him away in those categories. Maybe cuz Steve looked sloppier doing it. Took too much time with the ball in his hands. Also, just remembered as I was typing, Steve was hesitant to move away from point guard and be the combo guard right? (Alright my rant) The tattoos lets face it. Regular type good people with tattoos havent quite done enough to distinguish themselves. There's still some connations out there to tattoos being 'trashy'. Thats cuz those same people, even if they aren't really trashy, they WANT the enhancement of the tattoo on them to kinda present that image. It sure doesn't mean they're doing it to be nicer people now...I haven't see many of the I'ma Good Person tattoos. And its a double standard. On guys, whatever. Women its trashy
This whole tattoo debate reminds me of a quote from Adolf Loos, a Victorian era architect and a penultimate slippery-slope man... "The child is amoral. To our eyes, the Papuan is too. The Papuan kills his enemies and eats them. He is not a criminal. But when modern man kills someone and eats him he is either a criminal or a degenerate. The papuan tattoos his skin, his boat, his paddles, in short everything he can lay hands on. He is not a criminal. The modern man who tattoos himself is either a criminal or degenerate. There are prisions in which eighty percent of the inmates show tattoos. The tattooed who are not in prison are either latent criminals or degenerate aristocrats. If someone who is tattooed dies at liberty, it means he has died a few years before committing a murder." He goes on to say that any type of ornamentation is a crime, is pagan, and backwards of evolution. "The evolution of culture is synonymous with the removal of ornament from utilitarian objects." He even says that the "anyone who goes to the ninth symphony and then sits down and designs a wallpaper pattern is either a confidence trickster or a degenerate" Anyway, I thought his rant was entertaining. It's kind of funny how these victoran era (this was written in 1908) topics are still around with us today.
MJ has at least one tattoo that I know of, and it is a horseshoe on his chest. Not visible, but a tattoo nonetheless. And, yes, I, like every other normal kid, had a huge man-crush on MJ, and that's the only reason I know so much trivia.
Sweet! An Adolph Loos quote in a basketball forum. Although while Adolf Loos practiced at the end of the Victorian era he wasn't a Victorian architect but one of the first Modernist. Also he wasn't English. Loos' critique of ornament as crime was specifically targetted at the prevailing architecture of his age. The frumpy Victorian and Neo-Baroque style that was popular in his day.
I got no problem with Wade and think he's a great guy and phenomenal ball player. I just think its too bad he's playing on a team with Shaq, Gary Payton coached by Pat Riley.
