absolutely correct verse. We don't start Hakeem on Malone, because Malone would get him in foul trouble. But, we can (and did) run that match-up on key stretches in the 4th. Watch, TheFreak will not respond to you. backseat coach who can't see disadvantages in their own decisions....dime a dozen.
Cato, LOL!!! Do you really want to bet!! Carlos simply cannot score on his own. I love the guy, but he cannot prevent a star PF from getting to the rim. KT is better bench player on both counts.
HP, the game has been over for a couble of days now...chill. We are all backseat coachs on this board board...including you. Its kind of what makes being a fan fun isn't it? I am certainly no expert (are you?), but I have two good eyes and watch every game. I can see who is producing, who is playing hard and who is not. I can also see how certain matchups are just plain silly (KT on Shaq, and yes I know Rudy had no choice) It is my oppinion that Los deserves more PT and Walt(he has been so consistantly bad) should be stuck at the end of the bench. I would rather have Langhi get the experiance than see Walt continue to hurt the team with his poor play. I also think Collier should be worked back into the line up. But those are just my oppinions. And I have already stated several times that I don't really think Rudy T is an idiot...I was just venting after a depressing loss. ------------------
First of all, let me say that I dont think I am a backseat coach, just a person that has an opinion. If I play the devils advocate then we all are backseat coaches. You don't get paid for being an NBA coach do you? I didn't think so. We all have opinions and you seem to always have elaborate opinions on everything. I have never said that I have everything all figured out. I just have questioned some of Rudy's decisions lately. I love Rudy as a coach and the Rockets as a team. I have 4 seats to every game to prove it so I am not some fair weather fan. I pay money to back it up. I eat drink and breathe Rockets b-ball. I am a Rockets FANatical I pretty much base my whole schedule around the Rockets games. My friends already know if they wanna do something with me that they must first check to see if the Rox are playing. So basically what I am trying to say is that I the right to voice my opinion in a manner that does not personally attack anyone. I never called Rudy an idiot or moron. Most of the times I also do use stats to back up what I say. How else can I prove a point? In past posts of yours you have used stats. So whats the deal? ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder [This message has been edited by cato13 (edited February 05, 2001).]
Can I get in on some of the action?????? I got a Benjamin that KT plays ahead of Los indefinitely. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." [This message has been edited by HOOP-T (edited February 05, 2001).]
crash, I don't know, but Heypartner seems to be more interested in analyzing the situational aspect of coaching, plays, and breakdowns alike, as opposed to b****ing about how Rudy made an inept decision here, or recommending he make changes in his rotation there. All of which I can appreciate. I have definitely never heard him call Rudy a MORON. Coaching is not EVER an exact science, and YES, sometimes the decisions these guys make fail. But they are there for a reason. They have proven on and off the court that they are strategists and experts of the game. At any rate....I love to analyze and play around with the what if's of any coaching situation. But the theory of "an eye for an eye" just doesn't work on the court. You have to be creative, you have to react quickly, and you have to think outside the box. Control the controllables, take chances, and make confident decisions.... If Rudy needed our help, maybe he'd post on this board. Until he does, quit whining and name calling.....instead, ANALYZE, create, and play "what if" with us. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." Uh...Cato...it was a basketball expression. As in "defending against" Jeff. Quit taking those head-fakes, man. Stay on the ground! About the bet...I can't really take bets against a Rocket's player. No way I can root against Carlos Rogers! How about this, if Carlos does improve to the point of stealing time away from KT, start a thread slamming me, and I'll be right there slapping my sunshine ass in glorious acceptance of you being right.
Now you know if I responded with this post last night than I would damn sure respond in the future when Carlos takes time away from Kenny. That will be a given. At least if it does come to pass, for once you will be able to say you were wrong. All I wanted was for Los to be recognized. Can you acknowledge that Rudy was thinking the same thing last night? And if Kenny blows up and I was wrong then I will do the same to admit I was wrong. Oh and my bad about the perception of "defending". Guess if you would have said something like cato13 is in the post bodying Jeff I would have gotten it. This is what I love, talking Rockets b-ball. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
Ummm, I don't know about the ass slapping deal that Heypartner offered up, but I am still confident that KT will more often than not get more PT than Los. I don't really care who comes off the bench first...that to me, is somewhat irrelevant. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
And now he backs down. Before it was Kenny would indefinitely come off the bench more than Carlos and talk about the benjamins he wanted to throw away. Carlos comes off the bench in the second half first before Kenny Thomas and now it is irrelevant. I guess in a way it is irrelevant as long as whoever comes off that bench contributes in a positive way. Its all about the matchups baby. Its all good, just having some fun. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
Oh no! I am not backing down, I just refuse to slap my ass for you. I would think you would be greatful for that! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Look Carlos made the New York newspaper. http://www.nydailynews.com/2001-02-06/Metro_Sports/Basketball/a-98868.asp ".....Camby was an unwilling victim of the Dream Shake, Olajuwon's patented move that the Knicks know all too well from the 1994 Finals. Incredibly, Camby was in the process of humiliating Olajuwon in the first half, when he scored 14 points and drew three fouls on The Dream. But Camby appeared fatigued by the end of the half and was beaten by Carlos Rogers for several rebounds. And in the third quarter, Camby could do nothing to stop Olajuwon. At one point, Jeff Van Gundy was forced to use Luc Longley on Olajuwon. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
