I really cant believe Jeff Van Gundy really said that Pau Gasol was the best big man in the league. Very disapointed Jeff!!!
    Anways-
The rockets w/yao, ariza, martin, brooks and an addition of bosh will without a doubt boost us as elite contenders in the west. Me personally the lakers arent very good more overated. The team is Pau and Kobe thats all. So i really dont know why people keep making them seem like their amazing.Anyways, the rockets also need to worrie about maybe bringing back lowry or scola because we do need a backup PF for bosh.
because if not this is what our lineup looks like

    C-Yao/Hayes
    F-Bosh/Jeffries
    F-Ariza/Taylor
    G-Martin/Buddinger
    G-Brooks

In order to get bosh toronto already said they would want a big man in return(as if they didnt already have enough)In this case a sign a trade for boh in my opinion will look something like this

    Rockets Get-
    Bosh
    Calderon

    Toronto gets-
    Jordan Hill
    Brooks
    Battier
    14th pick
    and NY's picks in2011-2012
    Cash Consideration
And Maybe Buddinger(hopefully houston gets lucky and toronto has no interest in him)
in this case we would have to sign players, otherwise our lineup with bosh would be like this

    C-Yao/Hayes
    F-Bosh/Jeffries
    F-Ariza/Taylor
    G-Martin
    G-Calderon

Wack line up ill pass on Bosh unless we are willing to pick up a josh howard(x-maverick) or Ray Allen

    again my opinion

    Ariza < Pierce / Artest
    Martin < Kobe / Allen
    Brooks > Rondo / Fisher

Of coarse they are because it takes the heart not the talent to win a championship and that's what the bring every year. Combine heart with skill and well we are in the finals. I say we get granger and sighn camby and mike miller n only give up a couple of young stars or NY's draft picks n we got a killer lineup!!!

    AB/lowry
    Martin/mikemiller/Jermainetaylor
    ariza/battier
    scola/Hayes/first round pick
    Yao/camby/Hayes

Without Bosh we could play up to the level as the Magic, Suns, or a team of that caliber. The Lakers and Celtics are on their own level right now. I think a lot of people take for granted how good both of these teams really are. I haven't seen a more balanced NBA finals in a long time.

Granted, this is the Celtics last year I think for them to be on that level. Garnet is almost embarrassing right now, and Ray Allen isn't getting any younger.

Everybody on LA is getting older....
    Same with Boston
In a couple of seasons we could take over completely

Agree. You're throwing away all your trade assets for one player in Bosh. No thanks, I'll pass on that deal.

I've been thinking about this during the playoffs. I've been harping on this and could be way off, but I think a twin towers of Bosh/Yao (healthy) would be a return to dominance in the paint that we haven't seen in a very long time. It would catapult us into the top 4 legit contenders.

    Bosh, Yao > Gasol, Bynum
Kobe, Fisher, Artest > AB, Martin, Ariza

    Bosh, Yao > Perkins, KG
PP, Ray, Rondo > AB, Martin, Ariza

I think the gap between our bigs and their backcourts almost evens out.

We competed with the Lakers last year, so yes I think we can compete. Over the past 12 months, we have lost Artest and Von, but we have added several good young players. If Yao can return to form, and the team can relearn how to play defense, then we should at the very least be a contender.

I agree. I also do not why people think we need a big upgrade, like Bosh to complete overtake the Lakers, when in reality, we only need Yao, a really dynamic player who is great on defense (someone to slow Kobe down) and pretty good on offense (Igoudala/G.Wallace), and good backup center who is capable of starting or eventually taking over permanently for Yao.

The things that really helped us against the Lakers are pretty straight-forward.

    - Yao Ming, healthy (obviously) - Bynum is going to almost be in foul trouble by default. (Game 1-3 of WC semifinals)

    - Capable bench, our bench then and does now blows LA's bench away collectively Budinger, Battier, Jeffries, Hayes, Lowry, Taylor, and Hill are better than Farmar, Walton, Vujacic, Odom, Brown, Powell, and MBenga. The Lakers' bench outside of Odom is mostly filler, while our bench have guys who could start in the future or guys who were starters on the other teams. That was our biggest advantage over LA last year was having a great bench. The LA bench was just plain and simple overrated, those guys would struggle to win NBDL. Sasha Vujacic did not even make his country's national team.

    - Team Effort, Carl Landy and Luis Scola are not in the same league with Bynum and Gasol, but they went after those guys and out played them in a number of the games. While, Hayes slowed down Bynum throughout the series. Battier (and Artest to extent) slowed Kobe down a little bit.

    - In 08-09 playoffs, this team missed Tracy McGrady, Dikembe Mutombo (who would've made the biggest difference in the Laker series), and Yao Ming (later on). Yet, they're the only team in the last three years to take LA to a game 7. It seems like the Rockets are more of victim of bad health and luck than being overwhelmed by another team's talent.

Their size really did not kill us, like it does other teams. We only really need player who can slow Gasol down, as I really do not think Bynum has caused as much problems for us as people would like to believe. For some reason, the Rockets always seem to play them tough.

For this Bosh thing to work, it would again depend Yao Ming and how well Bosh does against Bynum or Gasol. He can score points against them, don't think he can stop to many though or even keep their other players out of the paint.

Nobody on either team can guard Aaron Brooks.

Which games are u talking about and why didn't their size give the rockets problems. BTW, taking a team to 7 games and getting blown out in every game you lost isn't anything to call home about.

Their size did not matter most of last season, definitely not during the season (Yao and Mutombo) and game 1 - 3.

Their size does not matter nearly as much, when Yao is on the floor that was main thing I was pointing to.
