Honestly, I wish people would stop using Salisbury's opinion for anything (whether it be pro Bush, Young, Cutler, ect..). Aside from being a complete moron the guy flip flops more then anyone I've ever seen.

Anyways, I don't doubt that Cutler may be a more accurate passer then VY. He's more prototypical then Vince. Vince does have a strong arm though. He may not have the zip or accuracy of Cutler but he probably throws a ball further. In terms of the QB debate, it all comes down to what you're looking for. In VY, you get a winner, great scrabler and a solid passer (he's not going to be Brett Favre but he won't be Joey Harrington either. He will fall somewhere in between). In Leinart you get a winner who possesses a pretty strong arm. He has intangibles like VY (probably not quite as many), can make most of the throws and will be a good NFL QB. I don't see him being a superstar but i see him being pretty good. He's really slow. Cutler is this season's workout warrior. He looks good from what you've seen but would you really take the guy over VY or Leinart? I think it would be a stupid decision personally. I'm not fascinated by hype guys who shoot up the draft boards in workouts because the vast majority of them end up being busts. Cutler was thought of as a mid to late first rounder and that's where i think he belongs. I see a Chad Pennington type player (with a better arm).

I think that is funny considering you think Mortensen has all the credibility in the world. At least Salisbury can form his own opinion, unlike Mort, who every year near draft time is regularly used and abused by NFL types and player agents who want to spew misinformation throughout the media.

Too each is own but i consider Mortenson to be much more credible then salisbury. I never said anything about him having "all the credibility in the world". I simply stated that i thought Salisbury was a white Steven A.Smith clone and lacked credibility period (whether it be regarding Bush,Leinart or Young). It's not like i was specific. In fact, I've stated that if I had to guess it would be that VY had a good workout. All Salisbury does is get owned in every debate he gets in and pulls the "I used to be a NFL QB" card.

He was a terrible QB at that too. I remember when he played for the Oilers.

You trust mortenson's "anonymous scout" and "team sources" more? Honestly, I'm not saying anything about Salisbury, but that's just kind of a silly thing to say. I don't doubt that Mortensen has an "anonymous scout" that he quites, which can mean anything (current, former, whatever) but to say that you've evaluated "anonymous scout"'s anonymous credentials and decided that, overall, "anonymous scout" has more credibiilty with respect to something as subjective as this is kind of silly.

    A bit off topic:

I work in the sports department of the UT student radio station. Our offices are right next to the TV station here and one of their sports guys got to go to UT Pro Day to do a story on it.

While there, he got to talking to Sean Salisbury about VY's Wonderlic test score and brought up Dan Marino's simliar score. Salisbury tells the TV guy that Dan Marino is a complete idiot unless you're talking about football. He basically said that it's impossible to carry on a normal conversation with him.

While probably not news to most of us, I thought it was amusing.

Pretty funny. But I guess Salisbury being an a-hole on tv isn't an act.

Hello, first time poster... just wanted to share this snippet from AP via ESPN about Young ...
    article

Interesting how the article chooses the wording "touted as the potential No. 1 choice by the Houston Texas" ... I certainly wouldn't have put it that way unless I was trying to suggest that Young was the number 1 choice on the Texans' list.

echu888- How did you come up with the "888" at the end of your name? I'm assuming your last name is Chu. I ask because many of my screen names end in "888" and my last name is Chu as well.

kas. .opps I read that wrong you were talking about leinart.. i do disagree that he was thought of as a mid to late first rounder.. kiper had him as a top 10 pick BEFORE the senior bowl week.. based on his sec player of year season

what makes you say leinart has less intangibles than VY? he has certainly won championships

Why would you think that? Because UT beat both USC and Mich in the rose bowl? I mean, we have a usc alum who had been skeptical of Vince do a 180 after watching him workout. Then, we have someone who lives in Atlanta and whose son goes to ARkansas (a school/state that hates UT/texas) and lives in Atlanta, the capital of the SEC. Yet, you think the usc guy would have credibility issues?

That's awesome. Vince was the big 12 player of the year.

nahh, Mortensen's got no ulterior motives, his draft analysis is spot on. He doesn't favor certain players.

The amount of fellatio on display in that article makes John McClain look like The Great Santini when he talks about Vince.

The sad thing is that alot of what was written in that biased article could be applied to VY.

gr8-1.. no doubt, and vince shoud have been big 12 player of year.. i made the statement because sec player of year means he proved his worth during season too, not just at workouts..

just like vince proved his worth during the big 12 season, not just the rose bowl.. he was good way before rose bowl

Yeah, I remember he was pretty down on VY before he saw him workout. Then, after he saw Vince workout, he said Vince may actually be better than Leinart.
