Wrong. Its about the team and the team is the players that brought glory to us.

I met Otis Thrope and I told him that I appreciated his part in bringing championship to us (I also told that he was WAYYYYY WAYYY WAYYY WAYYY BETTER THAN JUWAN). He shook my hand and in his eyes and voice, I sense that he too was proud of the glory that he brought to the Rockets.

I hate the Spurs and Lakers, but when Robert Horry keeps winning championships for those teams, I say to myself, "THANK THE HOUSTON ROCKETS 1993 TEAM". When Houston has a booming economy, I say "THANK THE HOUSTON ROCKETS 1993 TEAM".
When I go on this website and post things i have to thank "THE HOUSTON ROCKETS 1993"
For that my loyalty is to them, regardless if they turn into the Borg or werewolves. damn the humans then. damn them all!

Once Vince Young suits up for the Rockets, I'll be a fan of his.

Hakeem played many years on a Houston sports team, VY hasn't. I don't understand your point.

If the utah jazz drafted Hakeem out of college, I wouldn't have turned into a utah jazz fan. Some of you guys probably would have.

Madison High School counts. you cant get more Houston than Madison High School. You can't relocate Madison High School to Nashville.

University of Texas counts, Texas is the state that includes the city of Houston. Its not like Washington DC or Puerto Rico. Its not like Notre Dame or the University of Phoenix.

Wow... talk about "tirades." Yikes... Anyway, I can see you probably wrote this out of anger (or something close to it), because most of it didn’t make sense, but let me see if I can clear some stuff up for you.

I never insulted your school. It is kind of incredible that you think I did. I specifically put quotation marks around the word "better" (<---look I did it again) and added the word "considered" to make the point that all of this is subjective... and pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

What I first responded to in one of your posts was this: "I strongly doubt that he has more than a high school education. At the very best, mediocre public university degree." You added "public" and I thought that was peculiar, considering that UT is a public school and that there are quite a few "mediocre" private schools, as well. But, then again... if someone likes the school, who cares?

But back to your confusing message here... First, you say, "It was more a statement about this penis envy UT haters seem to have. (Hint: most of them couldn't get in)" then later on contradict this by saying, "How could I have been insulting where the guy got his degree if I don't even know where that is?" Err...what? Of course you were trying to be insulting, you insinuated that his comments were made out of envy because he couldn’t get into a certain school and had to settle for a "mediocre public university degree," as you had earlier concluded. Then you attempted to insult me along the same lines.

This was my point in my first two replies to you (and this one as well): Where you go to college does not matter. Your alma mater doesn’t define you or determine your intellect and worth to the world. I mean come on… don’t you feel weird trying to validate yourself by web-linking people to some arbitrary ranking Mort Zuckerman’s people create to generate news (money)?

You know what? This is pointless, isn’t it? Maybe we just have very different priorities in life. There is no use in debating this any longer. In my family everyone went to college and getting accepted and graduating has never been considered a great accomplishment, but just something you were expected to do. It is just another steppingstone on your journey in life. The goal has never been to impress people with socially constructed achievements, but to get to a point where you can positively affect the lives of others.

I realize that because of life experiences people’s goals vary. There are a lot of things I’ve never had to worry about (and never will) which allows me to talk about goofy, naive, idealistic ****. So, I am definitely not saying that the way I prioritize things is right for everybody, either. Hmm… here’s a completely unoriginal thought - People just have very different views of the world, and we should be open minded to all of them, huh?

I’m sorry if you were insulted by my post. That was certainly not my intent. I think the point I was trying to make is now clear. I hope it is. Either way, I'm done here because there is no point in arguing about this anymore.

    Have a nice day.

Seriously man...how can I argue with you? :) I almost feel guilty thinking that you and the Houston Rockets are one and the same :)

And believe me when I say that me not being able to argue with you is not a bad thing at all. Keep it up man! :)

i went to the Rockets Memphis game last week, they gave away free hot dogs/drink with the purchase of my ticket.

i'm going to the texans game next week, will they offer me such a good deal? no. arent the hotdogs $7 at reliant? what am i paying for?

they dont even have 7foot chinese dudes on the team. what lack of diversity.

you know where my loyalty stands now.

I have questioned many things about you. However, your loyalty is not one of them. You are one of the most loyal Rockets fans I know :)

Great running play by VY... followed by an INT. Yup, he's a rookie.

I am not a VY fan, as many on this board know. However, I will say that I am impressed with his play. Yes he just threw that pick, but he is a rookie.

He could very well prove me and the other naysayers wrong. For the sake of VY infatuation I hope he doesn't. However, he might.

VY is a great rookie, doesn't deserve half the flack he get, nor half the praise (for now at least)

He will be a great player in the NFL.

If VY leads the Titans to a victory over the Colts that would be amazing.

Have the Texans ever beat the Colts? LOL at Bob McNair.
