What were VY supporters supposed to say when he was benched and not playing? He was benched b/c he was hurt. The Titans made the playoffs with him his second season, and his first season he took over a winless team and went 8-5 as a starter. The Titans benched a winner. If VY supporters got on here every week and said "PLAY VINCE" they would just be dismissed as whiners or whatever; lose-lose situation.

Now, when they play him, he continues to win. 23-11 as a starter? Vince Young is a winner. You can point out any stat you want but he wins games. Throw for 100 yards, 200 yards, 300 yards, run for first downs, get 4th downs, what do you want him to do? Any QB would have Johnson run the ball a lot. At worse, Johnson is the 2nd best RB in the league. The team was 0-6 without him and is now 5-0 with him. Sure, Johnson has been running the ball more, but he still averaged like 100 ypg with Collins. And they couldn't win one game? Or score 1 point against the Pats?

Vince Young is a winner. He won with Chris Brown and Lendale White, he wins with Chris Johnson. He wins with Albert Haynesworth, he wins without Albert Haynesworth. The guy has never had a #1 receiver. I think Britt is going to be good, but throughout VY's career, I think you could take the #1 WR on almost any other team in the NFL and they would have immediately been the best receiver on the Titans.

And are you serious talking about when he left home w/o his cell phone? Wow, I think I have done that too and left without telling anyone. I am an adult. The media blew that situation way out of proportion as the media does with everything.

What's your agenda against VY? Why don't you like him?

After all he's done, you still don't think he's a good solid player in high school, college, or the NFL?

Well, considering they started 0-6 and have now won 5 in a row with him, can't you say the coach was making a mistake by not having him on the field? Sometimes coaches make mistakes. Ariza and Shannon Brown barely played in Orlando. They get to LA, get on the court and start to produce.

As the other poster noted, the VY fans didn't have much to say while he was sitting on the pine, as far as saying anything that will draw hits to a thread like this. Now that he is playing there is more to talk about. On the flip side, if he were playing earlier and they were losing then I'm sure this thread would have more traffic, discussing how he was doing. It just isn't much to say when a dude is sitting on the sideline....

All I know is. . .the guy just WINS

I can honestly say I been hearing about him since BEFORE UT.
    I just wonder about him

as someone else point out . ..
the championship game between USC and UT
WAS THE BEST MFIN COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME I EVER SAW IN MY MFIN LIFE!

    It was incredibly Exciting
[As an Aggie giving props to UT . . . leaves a bad taste in the mouth :) ]

    Honestly. . I am a HOMER . . a Houston Homer
I want the Texans to do well . . BUT THEY WON'T LISTEN TO ME *Grin*
they just disappoint . . . bad decisions [VY being one of them]

    I support VY
    I Support Beyonce
I support Hakeem and Clyde and all the Houston Natives!

I can't believe there are still haters on this thread. At least a few of the non believers are converting.

    VY vs Mario Williams
    VY vs Shaub

I don't know, but at least you can start up that argument again.

I would pick VY, but I am longhorn/vy homer.

I like Mario, but I think Vince has a greater impact on a game, he has the ball in his hands every single offensive play.

Give me that over a good defensive end...any day of the week.

I just find it hilarious that the same posters who RIP Schaub on a regular basis for not being "clutch" continue to orally copulate one of the most unclutch QBs in the leauge.

VY does little to help his team win, and Schaub does a lot to help his team win. but obviously VY > Schaub.

and I'm a fan of VY.

oh well, maybe if Schaub starts signing million dollar endorsements like the world is ending tomorrow he can get some of those pricey* oops, I mean favorable PI calls late in the game.

All I know about the texans is that the announcers have it right, the texans have the talent to be a playoff team but every year they have something of their own causing happens when they need it the most.

I don't even know what to say.

    titans - VY=0-6
    titans + VY=5-0

When it is 4th and 8 who would you rather have with the ball in his hands?

I am not going to criticize shaub. He is a good qb. VY might not always throw for 300yd, but you know when you need a big play he steps up.

I agree, and this year it's far more easy to blame Slaton/Brown/defense than it is to blame Schaub.

IT'S THE TENNESSE VINCES, nor is it the Houston Schaubs.

    Matt Turk or Kris Brown.

as does Schaub. don't sit here and act like VY doesn't make mistakes, cause his sophmore year was pathetic.

4 fumbles in 5 games this year isn't anything to brag about either.

For all the deserved criticism of Vince over his career, not being clutch is not one of them. His entire rookie year was filled with big 4th quarter plays - the Giants game and the Texans OT game, for example. This year, in each of the last two games, he's made lots of big 4th quarter plays to win both games.

His problems over his career has mostly been in the early/middle parts of games with big late game heroics, if anything.

Ok, I am not trying to prove anything TOO specific here, because obviously guys like Brady and Favre and Manning are not even in the same conversation as Young, but here are the winning percentages of the top QBs in the NFL. (Many of these QBs have more career starts than Young, some fewer, but 34 starts is more than enough for a decent sample size).

    QB / Winning %

    Brady .777
    Roethlisberger .704
    Romo .700
    Rivers .695
    Manning .684
    VY .676
    McNabb .642
    Favre .639
    Eli Manning .585
    Warner .577
    Vick .567
    Brees .560
    Hasselbeck .559
    Pennington .558
    Palmer .526
    Garrard .526
    Rodgers .481
    Cutler .438
    Schaub .429

Sigh, look who is at the bottom of the list :(

There are other factors, mainly DEFENSE and Rushing offense. It's not as simple is this.
