My best guess is... I 1-starred one of Clutch' threads; cause around here its not a democracy, its a dictatorship. And the heads of this site just don't like me. But I'm just guessing... (I never post new threads anyway, and I barely post in threads; so its cool IDC.)
no, i was just struck by your "pick your poison" comment, as if that were a bad thing. in my mind that is the most dangerous kind of offense. i wasn't trying to attack you but just used your post as a launching point. don't be mad at me PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE...
lol, it's all good. and yeah, I agree with you about the "pick your poison" offense; I wasn't implying that it was a bad thing at all.
When is everyone gonna realize that VY has control over EVERY aspect of the game. The reason why Kris Brown missed both FG's last night is because he knew who was on the sideline at QB for the other team. The Titans got 4 sacks last night...why? Because of the prescence of #10. It's so obvious, why cant people just admit it?
Whenever there is an injured player you just take him to the sideline and put some 10 on it. Bad running game? Put some 10 on it.
Obviously you haven't been paying attention, VY does not start, the titans suck and get blow out, VY play everything is good. Therefore VY has healing powers.
Do you really want me to answer that?? Ask any good QB what they would rather have - a stud runner or a stud wideout. Anyone that says a stud wideout is lieing. Matt Schaub is capable without a running game to fall back on. Yet he is much much better when he has that runner to hand the ball to, or better yet fake the handoff to. Dan Marino did it for YEARS without much resemblance of a running game. Troy Aikman had both, and ya know what, he won 3 super bowls. But I guarantee you they fair better with average WRs than an average RB. Trent Dilfer won a super bowl. Essentially putting up effecient numbers similar to VY. Jamal Lewis was the main cog of the success of that Ravens offense. Vince Young has proven capable with a stud runner. I think a stud wideout would certainly help him, but I think he becomes less effective if you simply trade the RB for the WR.
Tells me more about the players around Young. As much as I hate Bud Adams, they owe him some money for being essentially slackers the first 6 weeks of the season.
arguments like this are just as silly as vy can do anything arguments. and even if we believe that the players slacked off until game seven, then you'd have to admit that players play better when vy plays. so lets stay away from that silly logic from either side of the aisle. there are a lot of factors coming together for that team, mainly they are playing better defense. that allows them to play jeff fisher conservative ball. that played their game and they beat the texans. had they gotten into a shootout like the first game there, the texans probably would have won.
That was tongue in cheek in regard to the VY makes everyone better mantra. And I agree that its not just one factor thats changing everything.
Here's one stat I think I saw in the game last night about how Titans w/ Young gets about 7 more min of possession (or basically about 3 sets of downs imo.) and I think there is something to that. Vince Young, with his legs in 3 and short situations, might get you just a few more first down here and there and allows the defense just that tad more time off the field and get some rest. It might not show up in the stats as that eye catching (a 3 yard rush here and there) but it could make a big difference in the game especially for a defensively focused team. I'd be interested in seeing beyond just time of possession, but rather percentage of 3 and outs per possession in the 6 games w/ Kerry Collins and 4 games with Vince Young. Anyone know where i can get data like that?
VY is clutch and drove his team down for the game winning field goal...running, passing, good decision making...it's a contact year, what do you expect... That said, Matt did the same thing, in the last two games, only problem was the kicker choked... All VY does is win and the team believes it...Can't say for the Texans, and they have a better record...
