That's fine. I'm not asking anyone to be a VY fan. But why is he getting so much hate

I don't see Rashard Lewis being called a bad human being by some clutchfans here.

Beyonce didn't even hook with any of the Houston rappers, nobody hates Beyonce.

Alot of it may have to do with the fact that he is on the Oilers team and everyone has alot of hate for them in Houston, especially the diehard Texans fans. Its as if Hakeem played on the Jazz or something of that magnitude..

btw beyonce did have a song with Slim thug :p

It's the fact that the Texans didn't draft him like many thought he would. Because of that, they would hate the Texans forever. He conveniently fell to the Titans who just happened to be an old Houston football team. That is their crutch to fall on. Just wished some other team drafted Vince Young. Let's just say that Leinart went three to Tennessee and Vince went to Arizona. I'd like to see how many "Oh, I've been a fan of Night Train Lane forever, and I'd watch them with my pappy when they were in Chicago," would come out of the woodwork.

I kinda wanted VY to get cut, or have him ask for his release so some people could go be fans of his new team.

No it's like comparing ice cream to the crusades

What you are saying is that in Basketball, there are not enough statistics that can adequately measure players in a clear systematic way but there are in football.

TDs, INTs, Yards, Completion % are complete and all encompassing evaluations

    BUT
Assists, Turnovers, Points, Rebounds, Blocks, steals etc just don't do the trick in basketball.

If you are going to defend Battier behind intangible non stat measuring qualities, you can't dismiss when others say intangibles also matter in football.

Actually the only thing I'm saying is that basketball and football, in the way they are played (both in failure and success) are completely different and it is not fair to try to compare them. I think that is a fool's errand and a MAJOR reach if you're trying to make an argument for/against a player. I'm not even going to get sucked into that black hole of a discussion.

C'mon people lets get real. People were mad that the Rockets didn't draft Rashard Lewis...but they GOT OVER IT.

As a UH nuthugger I wished the Oilers drafted Andre Ware and David Klingler...but I don't STILL pretend both are excellent NFL QB's despite all evidence to the contrary.

Even now...after YEARS of evidence that VY is worse than awful as an NFL QB the T-sip Mafia is still clutching at straws that Vince can still be a great NFL QB.

I hope VY does great and leads the Titans to a 6-4 finish..and that Bud refuses to draft a real QB...cause thats 2 wins the Texans can have every year.

    Go Baby Vince!!!!

I'd say that Battier has never had a negative assist to turnover differential over the course of a season, while Vince has never had a positive touchdown to interception differential.

Vince Young has never had a losing record as a starting quarterback in the NFL

Someone needs to compile a compendium of VY arguments and their rebuttals so we don't have to keep constantly recycling this.

I believe the exactly same argument was trotted out a few pages ago about W/L... Zzzzzzzz

I have an admission. Over the years, I've actually enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play. Irvin, Aikman and Smith were great. Larry Allen was a monster. I'd turn on those Cowboys/Redskins games and if nobody was watching, I'd root for the Cowboys ever so quietly to myself. But even when I'd watch the team on Sunday, come Monday, my Dallas Cowboys hate would come right back out for all the Cowboys fans (and the rest of the world) to see.

The truth is, hating the Cowboys has about as much to do with their on field play as it does with a quantum theory of gravity. Being a Cowboys fan is a way of life for a whole bunch of obnoxious hicks from up north, and hating the Cowboys is all about hating those obnoxious nouveau riche hicks who lack any graciousness when they win, and who pout and cry like little girls when things go wrong. Cowboys hate is all about hating the buffoons from Dallas. It really and truly has very little to do with the team on the field.

If the Cowboys fans would ever refrain from acting like children OD'ing on Pixie Stix, I might not have to be a Cowboys hater.

Hopefully that isn't too obtuse for some of you VY lovers to figure out.

I'm not arguing about whether I think VY is good or not, I'm arguing with you about your logic.

Other than when I directly responded to SirCharlesFan, I haven't gotten into any discussions with people about the merits or failures of VY.

I'm just highly amused with people's justifications/logic for their opinions on the issue. I could care less about whether you think he is a good QB or not, I'm more interested in why.

I am simply interested in why people absolutely HATE him for absolutely no apparent reason. I do not care about what you think about his skills, but most people here simply HATE the guy for absolutely no reason
