Maybe it's because of the clubbing Texans fans had to take about him? Maybe it was because of all the callers who would call sports radio and b**** and moan non-stop, would trash the Texans, say they could never win anything, etc. etc.

Typical radio call after the VY Draft:

"The texans made a mistake that they'll never be able to move past. Drafting Mario Williams? The guy won't even be able to play defensive end, more like a defensive tackle. Vince Young is a hometown kid that is going to revolutionize the quarterback position. Texans had a chance to finally make them "Houston's team" and they blew it. I'll never root for them. Good luck selling out that stadium from now on Mr. McNair. The Texans suck, they'll always suck. They are run by morons who love pretty boy David Carr."

i'm gonna guess philly fans didn't hold the torch for this long against people who wanted Ricky Williams.

Its especially weak right now because now the team is good enough for fans not have to take solace in winning the draft.

Was Ricky Williams from Philadelphia? Did Ricky Williams get drafted by the team formerly based in Philadelphia? Was a good portion of that former team's fanbase still implanted in Philadelphia? Was that fanbase constantly swarming message boards and talk radio to mock the Eagles for their draft decision? Did that fanbase show up when the former team played the Eagles at home?

Totally different scenarios. And nobody here that is a real Texans fan is "taking solace in winning the draft." Most of us are thrilled with the team and pumped up by it, but it's hard not to have a little twinge of "HAHA!" when VY news pops up that vindicates the team/fans.

I'm guessing that if you go into a sports bar in Philly in 2002 (hell, even to this very day) and strike up a discussion about the 99 draft you will find some surprisingly strong opinions on the matter.

I guarantee you there are Ricky backers in Philly who are probably still living the shame down on that one, and some who probably still hate Donovan McNabb for making them look stupid.

To be fair, Tinman does live in Austin. His loyalties are tied to guy who brought Austin a national championship all by himself.

Don't worry, they will let him go as soon as his contract is up. The titans don't give care about their receivers which is why Fisher is never going to win the Superbowl. Fisher is the JVG of football.

This is true. It was VY/UT fans, and their constant b****ing after the draft, that turned Texans fans against VY.

when I was in Houston, the football team was called the OILERS.

still like that team despite the owner.

I Read somewhere that Austin has finally lifted the ban on the Texans. That now, every Austinite, young and old, will have the privilege of watching greatness unfold as the texans make history this season.

Also, she likes the teams but hates Vernon Davis. She thinks Vernon Davis is too much of a fake gangster. A fake ghetto thug.

Well, the Titans are 0-5. We got to see VY for one awful series, and you have pulled a disappearing act. Merril Hoge was right all along, and this is the worst thread of ALL TIME.

I am still around. Feel free to talk smack about the Titans and vince all you want. Not sure what you expected to see in one series last night.

I never expected the defense to be as bad as it is, and the offense is a complete joke as well.

If you want to listen to Merril Hoge, by all means go ahead. Vince will be starting at some point this season, and either Fisher or him will be gone by years end.

Also, if you noticed in that 1 series vince had, Fisher pulled out chris johnson.

I said before the season started that they're going to miss Fat Albert more than they realize. I wouldn't blame them (if I cared about the titans at all) for not giving him $100 million (and it's not like the Redskins are doing that much better), but he's what made that defense work.
