Can't we just get along? Please stop fighting, this thread will get locked and yet another VY thread will get started.
jeez, you guys need to calm down. i know that VY is your Jesus and all, but dayum. you guys really think Swoly was making a racist comment there?
no, it's not implied. they could have been white or asian. i don't think they're throwing up gang signs. swoly was just making a joke.
I don't think he meant anything by it, but the term thug is used too much to describe black males. Check out what The Insite has to say about it.
swoly, i know you didn't mean anything by it. however, bling, shades, hip hop culture et al does not equal thug. you stereotyped, that's all. i think we should put it to rest but just know that it is fashion and fashion only, don't read more into the way people look, okay?
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/cont...entries/2007/02/20/this_is_vinces_senate.html This is Vince’s Senate By Mike Ward | Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 10:59 AM He was referred to as “The Great,” “The Fantastic,” “A Shining Example,” much the same as has been said about the Texas icons pictured in historic paintings that ring the Senate Chamber. But when the Senate this morning honored Vince Young, Tennessee Titans’ quarterback, former University of Texas QB, the Texas-born star found himself spotlighted as an example of what young Texans can accomplish. And what the Legislature should accomplish when it considers spending more money on schools. Consider how successful Young has been, and consider how many other Vince Youngs there could be if they received a proper education, said Sen. Rodney Ellis and others. Ellis, D-Houston, said Young represents what young Texans can accomplish if they keep their sights on success, and stay focused. Young read from the same playbook: “Stay focused. Keep your sights high. Keep a good image,” he told the packed chamber. “Your image will take you a long way.” Young, wearing a natty tan suit and green shoes, appeared briefly before the Senate and House this morning as lawmakers approved resolutions honoring his accomplishments — most recently, Associated Press kudos for an outstanding pro season. The resolutions were unanimously approved, to applause. Before the vote in the Senate, Sen. Dan Patrick, a Houston Republican and former radio sportscaster, suggested Young be traded to the Houston Texans, “where he should be.” “No regrettably, we cannot amend the resolution,” answered Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2007/03/vince_young_get.html March 29, 2007 Vince Young gets out of his car and starts walking toward us. We'll get stories like this one for the next decade or so. It's a story that'll remind you how badly the Texans screwed up the first pick in the 2006 draft. It may make you laugh or cry. It may just make you mad. Anyway, this guy calls in SportsRadio 610 Wednesday morning and says he was playing a touch football game with some kids a few days ago. He looks up and sees a Mercedes pulling up. The driver's window rolls down and someone asks: ''Y'all need a quarterback?'' Out of the car steps Vince Young, who walks over, goofs around with the kids, tells some stories and then gets back in his car and leaves. The guy's reaction seemed to be: ''Did that really happen?'' He swears that it did. I think John and Lance were about to begin sobbing uncontrollably. From the start, some of us knew Vnce Young could have brought much, much more than his enormous athletic gifts to Houston. In the end, Jay Cutler may be the better NFL quarterback. That's not the point. The Texans were so committed to David Carr that they didn't do their homework. They didn't take the time to understand that Vince Young's intangibles made him such a rare commodity than he should have been passed up. Before the draft last year, I wrote that a lot of NFL people wouldn't like Vince. If you're going to get hung up on his arm angle or footwork or his Scrabble score, Vince wouldn't be for you. His QB rating may never be high. He'll make some horrible plays. He did at the University of Texas and probably always will. His second NFL season may be more of a challenge than his first considering the Titans have lost so much talent. All Vince does is win and put people in the seats and make your NFL team interesting. Part of me dreaded Vince coming to the Texans because it would mean so much extra work. The Texans would have become the No. 1 professional sports franchise in the state, bigger even than the Cowboys and Astros. There would have been all kinds of national media coming around, and we'd all end up looking for fresh angles to the Vince story. Vince gets it. That stop at a touch football game is an example of the ways he gets it. Some guys have the gift and others don't. It's no knock against David Carr, but he was never going to be that kind of leader, either in the locker room or the community. Vince is both. Nice job, Texans.
Vince went to meyerland 24 hr fitness on monday...asked if he could play basketball, lady at front was like do u have membership hes like no...so he left, manager runs out and invited him in, which he accepted and played for a little while.... apparently she didnt know who he was!
My pregnant sister was due in 2 weeks. But in the middle of the night, she felt something strange. Something that was telling her the time is now! She was alone, afraid. She struggled to the phone to call for help. Before she could reach it, she heard the door creak. It was motherfukin' Vince Young! He delivered her baby and drove them both to the hospital....and just like that, he was gone.
