because I want to educate the people here about the Rockets and how the Titans and the Texans are secondary. Think about it. The Oilers NEVER WON CHAMPIONSHIPS, Bud Adams never had leverage to get his new stadium or support. The Rockets WON TWO CHAMPIONSHIPs, the city and the people voted for them to stay here. Rockets vs Oilers? Rockets The Texans were the result of the Oilers leaving. They had to employ a ROCKETS GM to get a TEAM to Houston. I obviously was here Fatty when the Oilers were playing. But my loyalty to the Rockets are stronger than the Oilers, but I did cheer for them. I understand that you feel betrayed that Bud took the Oilers away from the Dome, but guess what? you couldnt do anything about it. The Oilers are owned by Bud Adams. that team you cheer for back then? Bud Adams. Lets say YOU ARE BUD ADAMS, what do you do? you have to move the TEAM cause you are hurting financially by not getting a new stadium. Now the Texans exist, they are owned by Bob McNair. man this thread is nuts. i don't know if we'll ever see it die.... but what's with everyone telling everyone else which football team they're SUPPOSED to cheer for? i think it's cool that some of you support the texans endlessly for whatever reason, and it'll be that much sweeter for you when (or if) they emerge as something other than the laughing stock of the nfl. but telling someone they're a traitor for not cheering for the texans or titans...on a ROCKETS forum...??.....weird. born and raised in houston, i was only a tiny kid when the oilers were still around, but i remember moon and childress and co, but at the time i wasn't into football nearly as much as basketball. when the team left i was disappointed, but the rockets were my love and so i moved on. eventually a few years down the line, i went to UT and was lucky enough to attend school there throughout VY's career as a longhorn. i was a VY fan for life after the 05 rose bowl, but actually going to the 06 national championship game and watching VY there put him on a whole other level. obviously my ties to vince are stronger than any i might have to the texans, so i cheered loudly for him and the titans against the texans. every other game that isnt against vince, i cheer for the texans...or more so just hope they don't get embarrassed. the texans disappointed me in 3 major ways, and so it'll take a lot for them to win me back over: 1. they still suck. a lot. 2. they named themselves the 'texans'. so they suck and they have a r****ded name. not looking good. 3. they passed on hometown hero (unless you're an aggie) vince young for a big stiff in mario williams (which could possibly be debatable in a couple years, but right now it really isnt), cementing themselves as the nfl's laughing stock and at the top of my apathy list. of course there's nothing the texans can do about vince and the 06 draft now, so i'm just going to hope they make a smart move by drafting heisman winner troy smith or manbeast adrian peterson. both from UT rival schools i know but i respect talent no matter where they play.
the original poll was about what was more important to the city. the rockets were because of the history and that they brought us championships and that part of their organization helped bring the texans here. the rockets are here, the oilers are in nashville and we have an expansion football team. my point to the 3 or 4 texan fans who forget who rules this turf is the rockets. also that the loyalty to the texans is five year max based on hatred of bud adams. people should be texans fans because they are a good team and have brought them something to cheer about. the rockets provide that and that proves they are more important.

I like that Vince Young is helping kids in his community (Houston) and his high school (Madison) so that he's building fans all over this "Texans" turf. write something about those kids being traitors or their parents being traitors cause VY is a guy who cares. Call up the stores who sell Titans #10 jerseys in Houston give them your 2 cents worth of why they are traitors. Hell, call Warren Moon.
