    Max,
there's no use talking to dudes who use fake loyalty for an excuse for pure haterism. anyone who claims the texans are on par with the astros and rockets with the fans are the same people that M Night Shamalan was making fun of in the movie 'THE VILLAGE'.

i already did dude .
i did it to expose the haters and untrue rocket fans. no way on earth or another planet are the TEXANS EVER AS IMPORTANT AS THE ROCKETS.

The Rockets created this city that you see now. Without Steve Patersen, Houston would NOT GET AN NFL TEAM, it would be the LA Surfers.

wow. i can't say that either. i'd root for them. i'd be really excited about them. and they certainly wouldn't have any of my memories of another houston hockey team to compete with...which would certainly be to their advantage.

but i feel so strongly about the rockets and astros...a team can't just plunk down here and match that. there's too much history.

What the hell does history have to do with anything? It certainly wasn't my doing that caused the Oilers to leave. To me the Oilers leaving was tantamount to the love of my life picking up and moving to Tennessee and deciding to love another person. (wait... that rings a little too close to home. :p)

My love for the Oilers turned to hate almost immediately. Didn't you love how Jeff Fisher spoke after the Oilers won the AFC Championship? "The people of Nashville and Tennessee have waited a long time for this!" I hate them, and I will never root for them.

The Texans are the new love of my life. They love me and I love them. And I don't need 30 years to decide that. But I guess if your girlfriend/wife walked out on you after 25 years, you'd never be able to love anyone else, huh?

you're equating this to my marriage. i'm sorry, but that equation rings hollow for me. my marriage is something very different to me than my affinity for a pro sports team.

    find a new metaphor.

and all the arguing in the world over this still isn't going to change how i feel about it.

max let me give you the mentality of the 'loyal texans fans..ie VY haters'

    there are two chefs.
one from houston and one from nashville
the one from nashville use to live in houston and worked at the finest restaurants. he's not the great person, but he's one hell of a cook

the houston chef has a choice to pick up some great USDA PRIME TEXAS Steak to serve you, he passes up on that for another meat.

the nashville chef sees how the houston chef is a r****d and picks the steak to serve you

you are in the HOUSTON RESTAURANT (NEW RESTAURANT WITH RETRACTABLE ROOF)

both chefs reveal their plates. the nashville chef (your old friend) serves your RIBEYE. the new houston chef serves you dog food.

These people who are hating on VY are eating dog food over STEAK.

my feelings for pro sports teams rest somewhere comfortably between my marriage and dog food chefs. :D

you guys are like poets with these metaphors.

Don't need to, and shouldn't have to. Just because you love your wife tons more that your sports teams doesn't make it a bad analogy.

Bud Adams screwed you. Plain and simple. I don't forgive that. You do.

Bob McNair put up a ton of his own stakes ($700 M), while Bud put up $50K And then whined about more.

Bob showed he cares about Houston. I reward that type of behavior with my allegiance.

Bud showed he didn't care. I have nothing but animosity for that team regardless of who plays for them.

But I guess you became a Cowboys fan when Ray Childress went there, huh?

Oh, and it's an analogy. Not a metaphor. There is a difference.

you're right. it's an analogy, not a metaphor.

awesome rolleyes at the end of your post there!!! why so touchy?

this is nothing like my marriage. it's not even close. if you see it as remotely close, you're seeing this with different eyes than i am. way too much drama over who i choose to root for in a football game.

Face it. You watched Childress many more years than you watched Young. Plus Houston didn't even have a team when he went to the Cowboys. Did you root for the Cowboys when he was there?

Hakeem played for the Raptors. Did you root for them?

Hey, you wanted another analogy. The Texans are the Oilers extension. The Titans aren't. Or do you want to ask Bud, Earl, et. al. who their true team is?

Maybe now you can understand why so many of us here would never root for the Titans regardless of anyone, including Olajuwon, himself.

i understand...but i still don't care, fatty. argue all you want. you can't change how i feel on this.

i've said it here before...i rooted for the oilers, astros and rockets because they were my teams from the start. i was born into them. they became part of growing up in houston, for me. the texans don't share that distinction. the oilers, astros and rockets could screw up everything...and i still would have been right there with them. i don't feel that way about the texans.

you can tell me i'm wrong or strange or whatever all you want. none of it changes the fact that's how i feel about it. and i'm not real sure why you care.

Die-hards always care. Especially when they see someone change their affiliation. I see the Texans as the Oilers with a new color scheme and name-change. I'm not sure what ties you would possible have with the Titans. And, no. One player doesn't make you a fan. Not a real one, anyway.

I agree. I'm not a Titan fan. I'm not saying I'm a Titan fan. I'm not saying I'll be rooting against the Texans. I'm not saying I won't still be watching the Texans. My 6 year old loves them, so of course I'll be watching with him and rooting for them.

But I like VY more than I like the Texans. I'm more interested in his career than their team. That's just the truth.

But I do not see the Texans as an extension of the Oilers. Not at all. Not even a little bit. I wish I did, frankly. I'm glad that some people do. But I don't. My team is gone.

How do you not see them as an extension? Their ineptitude is eerily similar.

And there is nothing wrong with that. The act of grown men telling other grown men who they should root for is getting old. You bought a ticket. Cheer for whoever the hell you want.....

I try not to adopt ineptitude. To the extent I'm born into it, I'm stuck! :D

some fans have gone to the cowboys. i choose watching whatever was on tv. just being an NFL fan and not wanting to watch cross country skiing on tv.

I'd root for Hakeem if he played for the Devil. if Hakeem wins and the earth gets blown up, so be it.

No that's where you're wrong. The Titans are the Oilers, that team and its history got moved if you like it or not. Warren Moon never played for the Texans organization he played for that organization Bud Adams owns.

The Texans are a BRAND NEW ORGANIZATION. Wake up people. ground beef isn't filet mignon.

That's why Fatty (if you choose to understand it or not) not many fans in HOUSTON connect with the Texans cause they are new.

I understand your hatred for Bud Adams. But he's just an owner and the players are the ones who play the game.

I'd root for Hakeem til I die.
