Ric, Why would a NFL coach be talking about intangibles? "I think probably the most impressive thing to me is his poise," Kubiak said. "He's like any young player; he's made some mistakes. But he got his team in position to win at the end of the game. That's what he's capable of doing, and they're playing with a lot of energy right now, and I think that has a lot to do with him. chron Is Carr fired up? "I remember that game vividly — every snap," Carr said. "I remember the way the grass tasted, the way it was in the stadium, everything. And I won't forget that. I'll be ready to go."
Vince to fellow Titans: "I need this one." Just got off a conference call with Vince Young and he sounds really nervous about this week's game against the Texans. He was asked if he would be able to sleep Saturday night. "It really depends on what hotel we stay in and how the bed feels," he said laughing. After a bit of coachspeak about every game being just another game, Young admitted this one could be as important to him as the national championship game against USC. "In a way because I'm from Houston," he said. "I told my teammates earlier today, 'Man, I need this one.' They understand." Young has gotten wind of the continuing sentiment from his hometown fans that many wish the Texans quarterback's initials were VY. "Sounds like it's a good vibe going on down there; fans calling and cursing on the radio," Young said of the reports he's getting from home. "I'm going to be excited because of the love and respect that they have for me, as well (the love) I have for the fans that I have down there. I love 'em a whole lot for that. "I just want to go out there, have a good football game and entertain them." The idea of fans cheering for him (and not for the Texans) doesn't bother him. "That's a good thing," Young said. "I don't want it to be like T.O. when he went back to Philly. It's good to know that your fans and the city you're from, your hometown, Houstonians, are behind you 100 percent." chron
Okay, I wouldn't call it as big as the National Championship Game. For Vince, this is his Houston Championship Game. This mother ****er wants it bad. For Carr, good ****ing luck, this is your Career Championship Game. If you win, you silence the doubters. (well, you still won't, but you get the idea.)
Yesterday was officially "Go Cougars" day in Houston, so I expect all of you to be UH fans or else you're not true Houstonians
I never went to UH but I've always rooted for UH and Rice (when they're not playing my alma maters, that is) ... hey, I even saw the Rockets play in Hofheinz.
I didn't have time nor did I really want to go back and read this entire thread.... I'll just say this: Clutch, can you go ahead and create a "Vince Young" forum here?
Only Carr would know how the grass tastes in stadiums around the NFL since he has spent most of his career lying on that grass.
My story is similar (left Houston before the Texans cam about). I kinda think like the above two, but then realize wishing one to RIP over any sports matter is just going too far. I'll will say this though, once Butt Adams is out of the picture one way or the other I'll have no reservations rooting for the Titans versus 90%+ of the NFL teams. VY to the Texans would have reclaimed a special place for me in Houston pro football even though I no longer live there, that is a shame to me. You go the wrong animal and the wrong end. Start with a baboon and figure out the rest.
