saying you can't root for someone or a team because of the city they play in is as dumb as it gets.

At least you can admit that you have a problem and are confused. That takes courage and is commendable. It's a first step to recovery. But I don't live in Austin so I have not been infected by the VY virus.

And I hope as a Houston Texans fan that Vince Young has a horrible game, Mario Williams sacks him 100 times taking him out of the game as the Texans go on to victory. This might not happen, but I wish it to be so.

I'm a true "Luv Ya Blue" Oiler fan. Can't get into the Texans because I no longer live in Texas and don't like pro football that much, certainly in comparison to bball. I like VY. Anybody could see he has "IT." I was hoping the Texans would draft him because that would give me a link to the Texans. However, it was not to be. I am not a Titans fan, but I do hope VY wins a Super Bowl... just so long as it happens the day after that fat b*stard Bud Adams dies.

you are both wrong about the motivation. i started the thread because he is my favorite athlete. can we say definitavely who the greatest athlete is, of course not, but for me, he's it. did i figure some would get bent out of shape? of course, but i think they are in the minority. i've been in NYC for fourteen years. when the oilers left i followed mcnair and company to the superbowl and was devastated when they lost. i hate bus adams as much as anyone but what can i do? when houston got a team my loyalties, which are being strained, went to the texans. i don't live in the freakin' city and they didn't exist when i did, yet i still root for them.

Meowgi, your Utah analogy is flat wrong. I pointed out the difference between the Astros/Rockets and the Texans. I was as big a TJ Ford fan as I was of Vince's, but in no way did where TJ go affect my Rockets fan status, because I have been following them since birth and have seen literally hundreds of games.

Huston Street, another prominent pro. I was a huge fan of his, but unless he was going to become an Astro, I was not switching allegiance.

As I stated, I never had much of Texans alliance because I left for college their inaugural year. So my NFL team was up for grabs, and the Texans just didnt do it for me. Sorry.

GO titans, Ill be there in orange on Sunday.

As much as I've been trained to hate Bud Adams and revile the Titans, my love for THE... Vince Young has converted me. There's been no reasons I can see to cheer for the Texans. They absolutely suck, they don't even have pride when they play and they're not Houston's team yet.

And anyway, with everything that happened with UT football the last few weeks, it's good to still have something larger than life to follow. One lousy QB injury is all it takes. Very frustrating.

You are a fan of the Titans, that is all. I don't care for an POS heartfelt essay on your deep feelings why. You support another city. You support a rival team. You support the guy who took the Oilers away from Houston. You are nothing but the enemy.

    GO HOUSTON TEXANS.

what exactly did the Oilers do to deserve Houston's adulation? besides, choking away playoff game after playoff game.

Agree with everything except the Bud part. I view Bud as a partner in crime with Bob Lanier...

Bud was just asking for an upgrade to his stadium and was willing to chip in $60 million of his own money.

nothing...BUT I WAS BORN INTO THEM!! that's the point we're making. that's the difference between the astros/rockets and the texans. because no matter how bad the Astros get...or the Rockets get...that's my team!! there are no other options. they're all i know. they're part of me.

i don't have that relationship with the Texans. i likely never will. you can't force that sort of thing...it just sorta...happens.

Then I'm sure you'll join me in lobbying for this man to be the Texans starting QB in 2007 and beyond:
