And this is the hangout, in which sports teams from all over the place are discussed.

If you're incapable of not clicking on it, you can deal with the annoyance. Fine by me - but don't sit here and b**** that you have to read it.

You do realize this is a WEBSITE, right? And people in Tennessee have the internet? They can still post this thread from there if they want. If you only want to be surrounded by Texans fans, stay home or hang out at a Texans-only bar.

When you go to a sports bar in Houston, do you tell all the fans of other teams to shut up because you don't like them cheering for another team?

Vince Young has been in this league a little more than half a year, has played in a handful of games and is a winner. Has shown he's a winner. Won against the best the NFL has to offer in only his rookie campaign.

Carr has been in this league 4.5 years and is a loser. Has shown he's a loser. Has gotten manhandled by the Colts every time we play them. I'll be rooting for both Young and the Texans, but people have to see that the Texans are one of the most, if not *the* most unfair franchise given to a city. Seriously...I mean compare the Titans vs Colts to the Raiders vs Texans.

Sucks because we *have* to root for them and they sell out every seat at every game. Had we taken Young, we could have still had Demeco at middle LB and traded away Carr for a decent Defensive End anyway. People telling me that Miami or Oakland wouldn't be interested in him? No one wants him now.

If it wasn't for the strong financial investment by fans in this team it would be getting worse. The honeymoon is ending, they need another good offseasopn

It they drafted Young it would have given them a honeymoon extension....I am still flabbergasted at the ignorance shown by the Texan's front office.

    Just floored.

No, I just yell louder and drown them out. Not many people in Tennessee have the internet because they are morons. You may love Tennessee but most in Houston do not. I thought I was surrounded by Houston loyalists here but I guess I was wrong. I hear they are now having tryouts for the "Tennessee Rowdies". You get to go to Tennessee and dance around for Vince Young in your underwear. Why don't you find the first plane.

Wow. Adding childishness and ignorance to gay jokes and homophobia. You're awesome.

It's just all proving true, ima. This is the nightmare that freaks like me warned you about. I just had no idea it would come in VY's first season.

Guess we'll be looking for a QB.

LOL - I know that you know....sometimes streams of conciousness just flow out on the keyboard.

It was just obvious to a lot of people that Vince was special, and for a hometown team struggling to get a passionate fanbase to overlook the most athletically gifted and unique QB to come out of college...EVER...was just mind boggling.

I still root for the Texans, but now think they would be better off tanking and getting another high draft pick.....

Also, I really think Carr is damaged goods, he has been hit too much......and for all of you saying Jake Plummer as an example of what Carr can be...Jake has now been beaten out by a rookie QB.

    Nice example.

Oh no! Not childishness in such an important topic as Vince Young! May God strike me down for such blasphemy. Homophobia is a bit strong for a dance around in your underwear line, isn't it? But you must make yourself seem smart and deep as a Titan fan somehow...

BTW, I do stay away from bars with other supporters. In fact I built my own Rockets patio bar to stay away from the untrue.

(dang it the search is down for a photo)

    Meowgi,

Bitter A&M fan much? I do not understand the problem of having a favorite player who is not on the hometown team, especially when said player dominated high school football in the hometown, brought the first football NCAA championship to Texas in what 30+ years, and is, by all accounts, a great guy on and off the field?

Like other posters were saying, I was born an Oilers, Rockets, and Astros fan. I was already away to college when the Texans began playing, and have been to just a handful of Texans games, as opposed to literally hundreds of Rockets and Astros games.

Why MUST I be a Texans fan and Texans fan only???

    look meowgi,

if there was some HALO2 tournament and you had to move to Utah for your job and you joined the UTAH HALO2 Nerds, and you have to play the HOUSTON HALO Nerds. we'd root for you. because we dont blindly root for people (at least not us real fans) the players need to EARN our respect.

this is the truth. this is why Sam Cassell gets loud cheers to this day at Toyota Center than does Scottie Pippen. both played for the Rockets at one point. that's why Rudy T (even if he was still the Lakers coach) would NEVER have to pay for a meal anywhere he goes in town.

if you want to blindly want to root for a team cause the words Houston are on it, sure do it. Put on your Eddie Griffin Jersey and watch the game.

if you fail to see why people like Vince Young, then you definetly are NOT a houstonian by heart, just by location. and who knows, maybe you live in Conroe or Sugarland. Does that make you hate on yourself if you don't live inside the loop?

if you want to hate on this dude, do it! that means he's going to run buck wild infront of his friends and family in his hometown next week.

    hate on it:
    Quick Facts on Vince Young

    1. Born Vincent Paul Young, Jr. on May 18, 1983 in Houston, Texas
    2. Plays football at his home town’s Madison High School; a three-year quarterback starter who accounted for 7,624 yards from scrimmage during his career
    3. Wins the 2001 Texas 5A Offensive Player of the Year, leading his high school team to a 14-1 record and a berth in the Texas 5A Division II state semifinals
    4. Enrolls at UT Austin as a liberal arts major and earns a spot on UT’s Athletics Director’s Academic Honor Roll in fall 2002
    5. Posts a 6-1 record as a freshman starter in 2003, becoming the first quarterback in UT history to rush and pass for 900 yards in the same season
    6. Starts all twelve games during his sophomore year, completing 148-of-250 passes for 1,849 yards and 12 touchdowns, and rushing 167 times for 1,079 yards (No. 1 NCAA among quarterbacks)
    7. Leads the Longhorn football team to 2004 Rose Bowl Game where #6 Texas met #13 Michigan, which UT won 38-37; runs for 192 yards and four touchdowns while passing for 180 yards; named 2005 Rose Bowl MVP
    8. Takes part in the UT’s LEAP (Learn, Enjoy and Play) Program serving as a student teacher and mentor for middle school math and science students

    HELL NO!!!!!!!!

This is what I have been telling folks forever. Just because you have "Houston" on your jersey doesn't mean I will root for you. It's different for teams you grew up watching.

A&M? Not hardly. I was kind of happy when UT won, I just didn't foresee the repercussions locally. It now has made me wish that it never happened.

How would like it if VY was playing for the Utah Jazz and Rocket fans defected because of it, then posted here about his "greatness". It's the same thing.

It's the defectors I don't care for, not VY himself. But as an opposing player I want the Houston Texans to crush him.

wow. seriously? MEOWGI? i find myself on the same page as you more than 99.999999% of the time, but this is surprising.

i followed the oilers (and rockets, astros and cougars) religiously my entire life. when the oilers moved to tenn., i had an internal debate about which NFL team i would follow. i quickly realized that it was the oilers who's draft and players i'd been following for decades and they were the logical choice. if it were going to be a "random" team from a "random" city other than houston, it might as well be the oilers. then they changed the name to the titans and i had the internal debate all over again. of course, i remained a loyal titans fan. when houston was granted the 32nd franchise, i pledged my allegiance to them from day ONE (before the name even existed). i still followed the titans for reasons listed earlier.
also, i am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (class of 1994). i follow players from said school wherever they play in the NFL (or NBA or MLB). when the titans chose VY, i was happy for them. i would have followed vince's career wherever he went (thankfully, it wasn't the cowgirls).
anyway, i still like the titans a great deal and wish vince all the success in the world with them. it's unfortunate that they have to play the Texannes twice a year. my loyalty ultimately resides with the Houston team. however, based on the poor decision-making and utterly indescribably poor perfomance by the current Houston NFL team, i find mysely (hopefully temporarily) alligning myself with the Houston-Tennessee-Oilers-Titans-Vince-Youngs of the NFL's AFC South division. it kind of feels like cheating, but sometimes cheating can be a helluva thrill ride.

    go Texans
    go Titans
    go Vince Young

    i know...i'm confused too...

    YaoMcGrady,
you dont have to be a Texans fan. Just because you love the Rockets because they give you great enjoyment in life and they have players you love doesnt mean you have to like the Texans.

Clutchcity is UNIVERSAL it spans the galaxy, it takes form as a NBA Team called the Houston Rockets, but its in nature and in space. its the reason the sun shines and the wind blows.

if Meogwi steps outside the Houston City Limits, say he goes to the Sealy, would he just blow up into pieces?
does Meogwi think people who have 832 or 281 phone numbers fake houstonians?
    where does it end Meogwi?

    oh have some Meogwi:

Vince Young Born in Houston May 18, 1983

(May 19, 1983) The Rockets offered the Indiana Pacers a package of players, draft picks and a million dollars in cash for the No. 1 pick in the 1983 NBA Draft. The Pacers turned it down, preferring to take their chances on a flip of the coin. They lost. The Rockets called heads on the advice of owner Charlie Thomas' daughter Tracy and won, immediately letting it be known they wanted University of Virginia center Ralph Sampson.
