Fisher said he plays the qb who is winning. Yet, he starts Kerry Collins too the point of no return, not once, but twice. for a combined 0-9. And yet, all Vince Young did was win. He loses one game to the #1 defense in Pittsburgh and is yanked for the season. Fisher did not want VY. VY was a winner, but Fisher, the guy who said he starts winners, never did. Quick trigger on VY. Slow as molasses trigger on Kerry Collins. It was night and day.
I think that openly asking for a job may sound weak, even to me, but it works. If you don't ask you don't get, especially in this league. You need to stay in the news which is why smart coaches out of a job go into broadcasting. It's get you air time. So while it sounds pathetic, ask the agents, this what you need to do because the league will forget about you. Kerry Collins is a prime example of someone who rolled off his couch and played another 5 years.
LMAO. Here we go..... If VY was such a winner then why did he not succeed in Philly or Buffalo? Was Jeff Fisher in on that as well? If he's such a winner then why hasn't any NFL team picked him up and why is he asking for a Job on Twitter?
in his last 2 years as a starter with tennessee, he had a 88 qb rating and went 12-6. i could be wrong, but i doubt all 32 starting qb's are winning better than 2/3 of their games and have 90+ qb ratings (and however exactly QBR is calculated, vince did even better in that). this notion that vince was terrible and that there are 64 qb's that produce better than he did just has no real basis behind it. you don't have to be tom brady to start. i mean, arizona has some guy named skelton going 11/22 with 4 INT's and people think vince just isn't good enough? going on twitter might be kind of ridiculous, but making fitzgerald catch passes from this guy is pretty ridiculous. even brady quinn is starting. brady quinn! i don't have any articles to quote, but the events seem to speak pretty strongly for themselves. in vince's rookie year, collins starts 0-3 and then vince comes in and goes 8-5. then vince goes 10-6 the next season. in season 3, vince gets hurt in a week 1 victory and then fisher replaces him and lets collins start the rest of the season. in season 4, collins loses games 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 and yet is still the starter. only after a near-record 59-0 shellacking from patriots does collins finally get benched. vince comes in and somehow turns the 0-6 trainwreck into an 8-8 team, finishing the season 8-2, the biggest turnaround for an 0-6 team in nfl history. fast forward to next season, vince has a nice first game in a win and then in week 2 throws a couple of picks against pittsburgh in the 1st half and in comes ol' kerry collins. vince has just taken over an 0-6 team and won 9 of his last 11 games and he has a bad first half against the #1 defense in football and kerry collins gets to come in. collins has to lose 6 straight games for vince to even sniff the field. after collins got vince's job for a whole season because of a minor injury in week 1. later that year, fisher, having had enough of vince winning games and kerry collins losing them, kicks vince off the team and promptly finishes 1-4 and gets fired. he literally took the "get fired" option over the "play vince young" option. in those 3 seasons where he switched the starting job between young and collins, young went 20-11 and collins went 2-15*. and yet he never missed a chance to go back to collins or bench vince. if he was cool with vince, he had a really weird way of showing it. and in the last 4 years, the titans are 12-6 when vince young starts. they are 13-30 when other people start. not exactly a resounding endorsement of getting rid of him. the eagles and bills aren't exactly killing it this year either.
Jesus H. Seriously? Don't you think that there is a reason that he wasn't a starter on two teams that have totally sucked it up all season?
(Horn fans are melting down with the demise of VY and the success of the aggies and Manziel). Sumlin and his recruiting are laying the wood to Mack and UT and it's a sad day to be a Longhorn fan. The Austin arrogance is finally humbled. Karma.
"if" he was such a winner? he's 31-19 as a starter, with 2 years where he took over combined 0-9 teams and went 16-7. there's not really an "if" there. he actually won games. and boy were philly and buffalo smart to get rid of him. they're really tearing it up right now, aren't they? unfortunately for vince, those 2 franchises had just given tons of money to their starters and decided to sink or swim with them. they've pretty much sunk. the bills didn't even let vince stay on the team so asking him to be a winner is kind of hard. as it is, they are 5-8 and their fans don't seem enthralled with fitzpatrick these days. the three teams that decided vince and his 31-19 record weren't good enough for them are are doing really poorly this year. seems like bad decision making.
Fisher forced him out. That's why he had to find a bench to sit on. Vick was the starter in Philly. Sorry. Vick Nearly won an MVP. Vince never had a chance to supplant Vick. He was there becasue Fisher forced him out and then didn't have the balls to stick around for the losing once Vince was gone.
the eagles knew vick gets hurt a lot, so why not having vince young as a backup QB, if he is such a winner? in philly they preferred to draft a guy (nick foles) and they preferred to have Trent Edwards as a no.3 QB In buffalo they preferred to sign Tarvaris Jackson and Tyler Thigpen as a QB no.2 and 3 then having Vince Young in the roster.
