I definitely agree, I think the Titans need to move on from Fisher. Even if this drama with VY didn't exist, I still think Fisher's time has run its course. I wouldn't mind the Texans taking a shot at him if he becomes available, he wouldn't be on the top of my list though.
Gotcha. Yeah I definitely think something has to happen, no way the two of them can co-exist any longer. I really hope they decide to let go of Fisher.
Me too. It would be insane. Imagine the coaching interviews with Bud Adams after that. "So... if I get the job, do I have to start Vince Young?"
Fixed. Really, the same way Vince wants Fisher to back him up, Jeff Fisher himself can ask his owner if the owner is backing HIM up (Fisher). Bud Adams is equally non-supportive by not letting the coach make strategic football moves. Could it be that its Fisher the one caught in the middle of the ego triangle?
lol some hypocrisy there, and pointing out how Vince isn't doing the man thing to subtly shame him further as being a immature boy. Though why would the text being taken sincerely when the OWNER says "you HAVE to get along, you're under contract". The owner has taken the sincerity out of it and made the apology a conditional thing. Yeah I think Fisher's time's about done in Tennessee. He'll be on a short list to get another head coaching job somewhere, pro or college. Fisher's probably thinking why should I go and Baby Vince stay, I'M not giving up MY job for that. He's gonna like Vince on the IR so he can do unabated head coaching for once...but I think he has 1 more season at MOST.
Do you feel deja vu??? Imagine the coaching interviews with Bob McNair after that. "So... if I get the job, do I have to start DAVID CARR? Rocket River I think Vince will be good to move on. Fisher has 17 yrs there. . . let him stay and Vince Move on. Sometimes folx need to move out of a comfort zone.
Yes I know it is John McClain...but some tweets from him about this whole situation. @McClain_on_NFL Bud Adams loves the situation in Nashville. He loves having the power and showing his people he's still The Boss. @McClain_on_NFL When Jeff Fisher finally leaves the Titans, I predict Saints DC Gregg Williams will be hired as his replacement. @McClain_on_NFL I've covered Bud Adams for decades, I don't think -- no matter what you hear or read -- that he'll side with his QB over his coach. @McClain_on_NFL Vince Young needs to call a news conference in Nashville and fall on the sword for the fans, his teammates and his coaches. @McClain_on_NFL No matter how angry you are at your boss, nobody behaves that way and still has a job in any business I know other than pro sports. @McClain_on_NFL I don't see any way Young returns to the Titans next season. He's supposed to make $12 mil. They were going to extend him. Not now.
Bud keeping VY? Looks like it. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...s-will-pay-vince-youngs-roster-bonus/related/ Can the Texans hire Fisher? that would be a great get.
Eh, not really the same. McNair really wanted the honest opinion of coaches. Bud has already made up his mind. Besides, Kubiak got rid of Carr after one year, Carr's 5th year in the NFL. This is also Vince's 5th year.
Keep dreaming. Greg Williams has said this week he wants to stay in New Orleans, and loves being the DC in New Orleans where fans are rabid about defense. Maybe Gruden, but Greg is staying in Louisiana.
What else would you expect him to say? I find it hard to believe he would be content with being a DC for the rest of his career.
I am looking for that sound clip where Rich Lord talks about Vince Young's 'package'. Does anyone know where I can find it?
http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2010/12/10/fisher-surprised-young-not-around/ I may regret bumping this thread, but can anyone defend this comment from Fisher? So you tell him to not show up, then tell the media you are surprised when he doesn't? Can anyone tell me why a coach would say this to the media, other than to try and influence the media's opinion about a player? This combined with Kenny Britt's towel last night only support the argument that maybe Vince wasn't the problem. (Let me state, once again, that I think VY acted childish in all of this. Fisher, however, is looking worse and worse as this season goes on.)
Reading the statement .. . I am trying to figure out what he saying . . .what he trying to say . .and why he said it at all. Rocket River
Kevin Mawae: Vince Young is not a leader The stories about Vince Young’s lack of professionalism are fairly well known in Tennessee at this point. Still, Young’s teammates are usually careful not to speak frankly about the situation publicly. NFLPA President Kevin Mawae and former Titans center is no longer Young’s teammate, so he can say what everyone else is thinking. “It might be time for a change of scenery,” Mawae told ESPN.com’s Paul Kuharsky regarding Young. “I played with Warren Moon, I played with Vinny Testaverde, I played with Kerry Collins, I played with Chad Pennington and the one thing all those guys had in common is that they were all field generals and leaders on the field. “And there is one name missing that’s very obvious. And there is a difference in those four players versus the one that plays for the Titans.” Mawae made a point to say that Young wins games; that you can’t take Young’s record away from him. Still, despite a lot of flowery pieces that indicated Young turned a corner last season, it’s clear he has a long way to go in his development. “As far as being the consummate pro like some of the other guys in the league,” Mawae said, “it’s disappointing that he hasn’t taken that step.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/14/kevin-mawae-vince-young-is-not-a-leader/
That is strange. Why would they tell him NOT to come to any team related activities since then? That seems like it would have been reported on the national media. Maybe he was referring to the meeting they excluded him from?
The latest, with quotes from a player: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...er-room-divided-up-over-vince-young/#comments The man who recently coined a new term involving the initials of his exiled quarterback has now declared the existence of a Minnesota-style schism over the player’s status with the team. Tight end Bo Scaife, who said he left the locker room quickly after making a key drop against the Jaguars for fear that he may “pull a VY” on the media, tells Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean that the locker room is split over Vince Young. “I know his teammates definitely want him here,” Scaife said. “The more I think about that, I guess the locker room might be divided up. But I know all the guys on my side [the offense], we all love VY.” Scaife’s comments come on the same day that a defiant Kenny Britt said he’d once again wear a towel with Young’s initials and numbers despite a $5,000 fine, calling Young the “franchise quarterback.” Scaife also said he believes Young doesn’t feel welcome in the locker room. “I think [coach] Jeff [Fisher] has probably given that impression to him,” Scaife said. “That is between him and Coach Fish and no one knows what is going on between them two. But if people knew the real story they might understand the situation a little better,” Scaife added. Scaife admitted that some players may have hard feelings about Young’s actions in the locker room after a November loss to the Redskins, when the quarterback cursed Fisher and left. But apparently some don’t.
