I'm for this. Doesn't sound like Bud wants to fire Fisher though, and he's under contract through 2011.
People keep saying that he's a "one-of-a kind" player with "one-of-a-kind" athleticism, that deserves to have a system built around him... and I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. Other than that run against the Texans (which was his rookie year, IIRC), where has VY shown the ability to break down defenses on a consistent basis with his legs? I know its not necessarily in the "game plan", but if a player is truly good enough, he finds a way to get his runs in despite this. Hell, Rothlesberger had 55 yards rushing and a rushing TD yesterday... and he is by no means a running QB, and he does not play in a system that allows him to do so. That's a better rushing performance than VY has had in 2+ years. Good players force their coaches to take notice if they're being restrained... whether its in practice, or in the games themselves. VY is now 4 years older with a few injuries behind him. Add to the fact that he still has trouble reading NFL defenses (per his coaches), and grasping a full playbook (per his coaches)... I don't see how you can clamor for people to build things around him. He has to show something, anything, to deserve that sort of luxury. And if this year proves anything, he's definitely NOT Michael Vick. Vick has stepped into an ultra-structured west coast offense passing system, and completely made it his own. He's been all over the film room per his coaches, analyzing defenses with his HEAD, not with his legs. THAT is a special "one-of-a-kind" player.
You'd have to listen to the radio. Here: http://www.sirius.com/freetrial Listen to Sirius 124 between noon and 5 PM for a couple of days.
hopefully he can use this time for some soul-searching. he is still very young and can still salvage his career.
Mr. Homer puts on the blinders and contorts himself to find a way to not believe. Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller are very good sources. The fact that they said it on the radio behind a pay wall doesn't make it any less true. If you think I'm making it up, and would like to wager a sufficient amount of cash, I'd be glad to record the radio, call their show, and ask them to repeat themselves on the subject.
I believe you, just thought it was funny that you just sent me a link to listen to sirius for the next few days. No need to wager any of your precious cash.
Geez if the guy needed surgery, who can blame him for being upset? He knows he can't be out there leading the team, then his coach continues the opera that he has been doing for 3+ years, and VY, who is uber sensitive anyway, gets mad and walks out pissed off. Didn't anyone here play sports? Anyone here ever pissed off at a coach or other player? This is much ado about nothing and now that he is on IR, they have plenty of time to patch things up. Vince to get better at being a Pro, and Fisher better at realizing he was a moron for sticking with Collins last year when the team had clearly given up on him. DD
Now is the time for him to think about last year? Ha what? I think it's clear one of them needs to go after the season. Who? I dont know, nor do I care but these two can no longer co-exist, that seems clear to me. ---- @jwyattsports Fisher on Young's future in TN: "My focus is on this fb team. He is not going to play any more games for us because of the injury, OK?" ... Cont Fisher: "We can deal with all that when the season is over" #titans More Fisher: "My focus no longer is on Vince Young. My focus is moving forward with this team." #titans Fisher said he is not worried about any division in locker room bc "the locker room knows what happened" with young situation #titans Fisher said he's been fair to Young. "All I have done since vince walked in the door is try and help him be the best player he can be" # ... Fisher said he has not spoken to Young directly to inform him he's going on Injured Reserve #titans Fisher said young "may want to get two dozen opinions" on thumb injury but teams drs say he needs surgery, no doubt #titans
Fisher's going to take the high road and leave IMO. He's a great coach... and I think he'd get signed in an instant in the spring if he were to leave. Clearly Bud Adams isn't going to let VY go... it's better for Fisher to move on.
I obviously don't know the extent of VY's injury but I think Fisher stuck him on IR so he wouldn't have to deal with him for the rest of the season.
