Serious question, if the Titans decide to cut VY loose after this season, will you start to follow his new team? Or maybe you suffer as a Texans' fan with the rest of us?
Honestly, I dont know. I will always root for Vince, but as far as making a "new" team, "my team"...that will be difficult to do. I grew up living/dying and watching the oilers, and I went to UT during the VY years, but I have always said to myself that I am a titans/oilers fan first and always will try to be until all the ex oilers are gone (bud adams, jeff fisher). In perfect world, I wish I could be a houston texan fan, go to every home game with my dad (and even take my kids one day- scary thought I know), it would be like the old days of going to the astrodome every sunday....but at this point I don't think its possible.
I feel ya man. Hope Vince finds some pride, he let everybody down. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/j7kKReik3Og?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/j7kKReik3Og?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
VY gives fisher and the Titans the best chance to win. The statistics aren't pointless. VY has saved Fishers job before. Based on the titans boards I read, it sounds like most people want BOTH VY and Fisher to be gone.
Yeah I know what you mean. I still was a big fan of the Titans/Oilers when they left Houston. When McNair left the Titans and pretty much all of what remained of the Houston Oilers' personnel moved on/retired, I really started to get behind the Texans.
If Vince goes and joins and NFC team (god I hope it isn't the Cowboys), you will be welcomed with open arms into the Texans family, Dave. After all, misery loves company.
Steve McNair would have really been a good coach/mentor for Vince. Whomever spoke about fatherless homes etc, seems right on the money. Vince is too sensitive, a guy who is great when things are good but can't stand criticism when the chips are down. He needed a father to tell him to suck it up, and rub some dirt on it, and to toughen up. Fisher is no picnic for players, and honestly they could both be really good together, I still can't believe they tried to tone down Vince's running, I mean look at Vick, that is what Vince could be doing, but he is just not allowed to do it. Bad coaching, wussified player, and you get what you get. DD
That's a really stupid comparison. Yes, the difference in regular season career winning percentage between Kubiak and Fisher is similar to that between Fisher and Belichick, but Belichick has won multiple Super Bowls. Fisher has the same number of Super Bowl wins with the Titans as Kubiak has with the Texans.
Tell ya what, it is not very classy of Fisher to be airing his side of the story in public. You can't have it both ways......seems a cowardly move on his part. DD
What are you talking about? Did you watch Fisher's press conference? What part of that was "his side"?
WTF? DD, where do you keep getting this stuff?? Fisher is universally known as one of the most player-centric coaches in the league. I swear, it is almost as if you just say what you want to hear just so you can read it again later to reinforce the false reality that you wish were true.
Fisher has always been tough on guys that have an attitude, and if they don't conform he runs them out of town, whether they are talented or not. And he flat out should be keeping his mouth shut about this incident, he told his players to shut up, he should do the same. Airing the dirty laundry in public is a petty move, IMO. Saying that he heard Vince threw some of his uniform into the stands etc....he should just stay classy and say, we are keeping this in house. The dude clearly has an agenda here, maybe he didn't like the owner forcing him to play Vince last year...who knows? DD
Can you please provide evidence of ANY of this? What "talented" malcontents did he run out of town? What "dirty laundry" has he gone public with? Are you privy to some alternate NFL universe where Jeff Fisher is an egomaniacal sociopathic douchebag and Vince Young is the model of maturity and poise?
Haynesworth, the Freak, Samari Rolle, and now Young...one could argue VandenBosh too. Lots of players have clashed with Fisher...over the years. He is like Jerry Sloan, as long as you do it 100% his way. He plays favorites with those guys and jettisons those that rock the boat....even if they could help him win. Answered above, Fisher should stay classy and not talk about things until they have reached a decision. He is subtley tossing more fuel in the fire.... DD
Yeah, Fisher sure sounds petty and flaunting his agenda here... http://www.nfl.com/videos/tennessee-titans/09000d5d81c4b627/Titans-postgame-press-conference Paranoid much?
Haynesworth and Kearse left for the money, $100 million and $65 million respectively otherwise I don't think either would want to come back and Kearse did and Haynesworth said he was open to a trade back to Tennessee.
He should not be saying anything, he should be coaching his team and dealing with the players inside those walls. You don't air your dirty laundry in public....and saying Vince is benched in the media is part of the problem here... I am not sensitive, I just realize it takes two to tango in a fight.....and that is what this is a clash of wills. Fisher wants Vince gone, and Vince probably wants Fisher gone....it will be interesting to see who wins.... IMO, it is a toss up... Sure once they left and found out the grass wasn't greener.....etc.... I am not saying Fisher is a bad coach, I like the guy a lot, I am saying that his handling of some of his players could use work. DD
