What was the over/under on posts before somebody reverted to the "Vince just wins" tactic of arguing? Special bonus if you put money on the "Vince just wins (against the Texans)" category.

Uh yeah, since with your last couple of posts, you decided that QB rating was irrelevant and reverted to "VY IS A BIG FAT PIECE OF DOODOO TURD SANDWICH!" after having to concede that 2008 was, in fact, 2 years ago, you didn't exactly establish a high bar did you, brah?

I actually am glad about that, my dad is a huge Texans fan so I'd root for them for his sake. Yesterday's win was huge. I like Vince too.

In my old age, i find it possible to be non-exclusively a fan of teams and players, especially in the overly-corporatized NFL, where fan loyalty only goes one way (witnesseth no more oilers), and have no qualms about it.

    Hey cool, bigtexxx is back.

Look Sam, you're cherry picking just as much as I am, so don't play that card. You're taking a sample size and time that could prove just as irrelevant as anything I've mentioned about Collins. So don't pretend to be touting around facts that somehow matter more. You're basically pointing to 6 games for Collins to call his career over, and 6 games with Young to claim his career is worth pursuing. Kinda weak.

And was it not evident to you that when speaking about "years" I am referring to seasons? Was it really necessary to spell it out for you in terms of exact time? 15 months, right? That's 2 years on Sam's calender, eh? Whatever man. Congratulations Sam, Vince is better than Kerry Collins. You win. Enjoy your prize... if you can call it that.

Yes. Indeed I am cherry picking - it's recency bias, and it's eminently relevant in a league like the NFL when discussing middle aged quarterbacks.

Why? Because games are played in the future. Not in the past. Not in a time machine.

In 2008, Kerry Collins was 2 years younger, and physically capable of playing better, as logic and human biology dictate, or so it appeared. In 2008, Vince was 2 years younger had yet to put together a consistent string of games like he did last year.

In 2008, the leading rusher in the league was LaDanian Tomlinson (edit, sorry wrong year, he was considered an elite RB is the point I am making), Marc Bulger was the future of the StL Rams, and Brett Favre and Eric Mangini were supposedly leading the Jets to the Super Bowl.

In 2001, Kerry Collins started in the Super Bowl. In the 90's he led Carolina to the NFC championship game. And who cares?

Actually, the only thing I still want to hear from you is how December 2008 (or January 2009? whatever, the last time Collins was decent) to September 2010 is a span of 15 months. 15 months from December 2008 is April 2010.

    Do you understand?

Yeah I apparently botched the math on that one. 21 months, sorry.

Either way, my original point was "1 season", which is basically correct since this season is barely underway.

You seem hell-bent on believing that Collins is washed up based on 6 games and 21 months of aging... all I can say to that is, more power to you...but with Vince, it seems like he would've "gotten it" by now, just as much as Kerry should've "lost it" by now... and I just don't see it. Is Collins the answer? Obviously not, but it might be time to realize that Vince may not be the answer, either.

Kerry was the better QB yesterday.

And had we been having this thread last week, it would have been time to enshrine him in Canton and his 142 QB rating. Talk about cherry picking....I just don't ever recall anybody operating on such a short leash, when there is nothing in reserve. I mean look at Andy Reid and Kevin Kolb. Compared to Kolb's nonexistent NFL resume, Young is a grizzled veteran, and Vick is arguably the top backup in the league. But next week, Kolb is firmly the starter (as is Young, for the record).

Honest question, what are your expectations for Vince as a 5th year player?

What would be considered success, what would be considered failure?

    Discounting W/L entirely.

If he can do about 80+ QB rating and run for about 4 or 500 yards, i.e. last season's performance (or Week 1's performance).

Even if he replicated his performance from last year (which I've already discussed why it's a poor sample), that would still put him at, or near, the bottom third of NFL QBs.

You consider that success, in his 5th year?

If he can be an average passer and an above average runner - yes I'd consider him a successful player, so long as it translates to wins.

On the other side of the coin, what's the Kevin Kolb success metric? Yards? Wins?

    Before the season:

3500 yards, 1.5 TD/INT ratio, and a Pro Bowl appearance.

    Now:

Being able to feed himself under his own power.

You didn't have to win the national championship like you did
But you did, but you did.
    And I thank you.
But you took your love to someone else
Otherwise, I wouldn't know what it meant to be loved to death

I'm an UH alum and current A&M student, and I love me some Kevin Durant, even if he is playing for another team in our division. I'm also a big fan of TJ Ford, and it's unfortunate that his NBA career has been wracked by injuries. Not to mention my manlove for Kasey Studdard, as long as he keeps his shirt on when he's up in da club.

The hate is because y'all were being ****ing obnoxious after the NFL draft. The Texans made the right choice. Get over your UT martyr complex.

I don't care about the Texans though.
