Dear Vince, I apologize for all the haters that live in your city. We know the crime rate is high and you are a victim of a hate crime. I would like to thank you for keeping it real, for supporting the Rockets, and for buying Luther Head some Red Bull so he can he wake up at the party. Thanks.
In defense of all the people bashing VY for not reppin' Htown in college. Consider this. How many of you guys pile on Adrian Peterson for going to OU, despite being born in Texas? Same circumstance really, we're all a little guilty.
I saw the game and yes, he did make some good and bad plays, what you'd expect of a rookie...At times, IMHO, his throwing motion looked akward and too tense...He'll relax overtime and do just fine...
yet, people don't give mario williams the benefit of the doubt when he's playing against veterans. that's not really directed towards you, but people in general who seem to diss Williams.
how many texan fans want Adrian Peterson as their draft pick next year? the hate for VY is high since he won a championship and defeated a team that was considered a dynasty. they also hate him cause he's a black quarterback. you dont see carson parmer or matt leinart getting the hate, do you? where's the hate for roger clemens when he played for boston? where's the hate for david klinger when he went to the bengals? he went to U of H? VY feeds off that hate and turns into something positive, like a championship. just like when the Rockets received hate from its own (Houston Post labeling rockets CHOKE CITY).. the Rockets turned that hate into CLUTCHCITY. no need to pay me for this history lesson.
Hahahhahhahahahahhahahahhahahhaha..... breathe....... Hahahahhahhahahhahhahahahahaa..... my side hurts.
i'm a huge VY fan. i can't root against the guy, despite the fact he plays for one of my least favorite organizations in all of sports. the hate is because he's a Longhorn. because the Longhorns are a love 'em or hate 'em sort of deal. that's it.
i'm not a VY fan, but i think he's a good kid and i respect what he does for his community. with that said, I hope he never takes his team anywhere.
when Rudy T went to the Lakers, I never hated on Rudy T. its hilarious Max how people just hate on someone cause of his success. David Klinger sucked and he played for the Bengals, a Houston football rival. Where was the massive thread of hate for him? why? he sucks. and we all know he doesnt have the potential for greatness like VY.
I don't think that's it at all. I don't love the Longhorns and I don't hate the Longhorns. This may come as a shock to Longhorn fans, but the earth does not revolve around Austin, TX. There are many of us who pull for the school(s) we went to and don't live and die by whether UT wins or loses on Saturdays. Vince is the QB for the titans. That's why I can't root for him. It has nothing to do with where he went to high school or college.
Uh, We don't hate VY. We hate that people would rather cheer for him than the Texans. We hate that people here have become Titan fans because of him, and would like the Titans to win a championship. You want VY to win a championship on the Titans? You are now an enemy of the Houston Texans and their fans.
The Rudy T comparison doesn't make any sense. Pretty much everyone in Houston loved Rudy T. There are plenty of us who were indifferent to VY because we didn't go to UT.
most people in texas have a love 'em or hate 'em feeling towards the longhorns and the aggies. they're the two biggest schools in the state. the longhorns are the game most Big XII teams circle on their schedule as a game that means something. when you beat Baylor, Kansas, OSU, Iowa St.,...eh. when you beat Texas it means something. what i saw on this board and in the real world in the days after the rose bowl is that those who were most critical of VY were those who were Aggie, Sooner or Trojan fans.
it does make sense cause the Lakers are our heated rivals. maybe some here dont remember the cheap punch Mitch Kupchak had on Dream. I remember..
But there is only 1 dominant college team from the state of Texas. There is only one school/campus instantly recognized as the University of Texas nationally/internationally. It is the same school that leads national merch sales among colleges, and has muliplte NC among the big 3 mens college sports over the last decade. And is the state's unquestioned leader in all of the big 3 men sports, and is reknown as one of historically elite schools in college football and baseball (granted basketball is a newer development, but they are certainly a top 10 program now). Success makes a lot of haters, as noted wherever the Longhorns play opposing fans put more energy to try to mock it opponent's symbol than promote their own symbols--that fits the def of hateraid right there. From my experience most Pac 10 schools do route for other Pac 10 schools if their school is out of it. But you could argue these West Coasters are patsies, and I would not have a big contention with it. For the record it wasn't the VY or Texas fans who 1st questioned other's loyalty or reasons for their fanship in this thread, it was the haters that took it that way.
