I never rooted for Clyde and the Blazers against the Rockets, but against the Pistons and Bulls, absolutely.
You're a regular member here...you've seen the type of threads that pop up on this bbs, are you seriously worried about a VY thread? The fact is that he is a Houston native that has a lot of fans in the city and on this board, if people want to start a thread to follow him and his first game, then we are certainly allowed to do that. In all honesty MEOWGI, you seem to be just more obsessed with VY than anyone on this board. Don't you find it funny that the one guy who seems to be the most annoyed with VY threads is the one that has the most posts in it?
Timan, i dont know that guy. but the tinman wants heroes who represent CLUTCHCITY to win a championship. I hate the Spurs, but I get satisfaction that Robert Horry got another chapter in his storied carrier. I root for Sam Cassell whether he plays at Fonde or the Clippers, he represents CLUTCHCITY. let me remind you what CLUTCHCITY is.. its not Houston.. its beyond that.. it's like the force.. CLUTCHCITY is taking being doubted, dishonored, hated, and not hating back. but turning the negative into a positive. its when you are backed in the corner and the tough guy comes out swinging. its about being down 0-2 to Phoenix with Eddie Sefko calling you "CHOKE CITY". its about David Robinson not mentioning you in his MVP speech. Its about people not putting you on the allstar team as the PG because you are 2nd in the league in assists and you look like an alien. we use this thing called CLUTCHCITY in life. when we are down, we'd harness the power of great Rocket's championships to turn our situations around. cause we believe in the Dream. we believe in Maxwell. we believe in Mario.. lets take Vince Young for example.. A rocket fan as a child. Criticized for having a simple offense, his team given zero chance to beat USC, his honor taken when he wasnt given the Heisman.. What did he do? he harnessed the power of CLUTCHCITY and destroyed the evil USC and brought Glory back! Back to Houston. Yes, he's from there. Yes, he represents Madison. but that day, we were all from Madison. Kids from Bellaire, Katy, Alief, Sugarland.. we were all Madison that day.. Just like we are Rockets in real life. we struggle against the evil haters, but we strive to win. we never give up. we have the heart of champions! so if Mario Williams and David Carr bring glory to Houston, its fine too. But Vince is from here, he is ONE OF US. he is a ROCKETS FAN. we are ONE! look he's spawning a Cassell Jersey!
Love has blinded you. VY winning a championship would only bring glory to VY and Tennessee, not Houston.
No, he isn't alone. I think its just as ridiculous but I got tired of responding plus I have nothing better to add to what MEOWGI has already said. MR. MEOWGI, keep fighting the good fight!
The Vince worship kind of bugs me too, but I think that as the fantasy of him turning into a HOF quarterback slowly turns into the reality of him turning into a slightly better than average quarterback, it will die down. That along with the steady improvement of the NFL's #1 rated passer David Carr has me convinced that the Texans did the right thing by passing on VY.
And yes the Texas Longhorns and Vince Young brought a lot of national respect to college and high school football in Texas and Houston with what they accomplished last year. It is funny how many irritated posters (about VY) continue to follow threads about him. Keep up the good fight Tinman.
exactly, haters are out because the texans did not draft HOUSTONIAN and NATIONAL CHAMPION vince young. he had no control over who drafted him. he played his ass off for THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS LONGHORNS and brought home the gold. that's enough for me.
I'm not going to lose this fight either. Cause Vince has shown much love to the Rockets. He's even hanging out with the bench players like Luther Head at parties, thats what I call a good fan! It would be stabbing a fellow Clutchcity devotee in the back. just because some people here hate UT and hate Bud Adams doesn't mean everybody associated with them deserves hate. but thats ok, these people want to label Vince as CHOKE CITY.. these people are EDDIE SEFKOS and SPORTS ILLUSTRATEDS. I'm rooting for him to be CLUTCHCITY like he was in college. "4th down, the National Championship on the line.." "Maxwell..three!!!" "Elie in the corner!!" "Horry!" "Hakeem passes out to Cassell! YES! "
Ok, i'm not going to try to change the haters minds. I'm just going to give them more Houstonians who went to Madison for them to hate on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_High_School_(Houston) Notable alumni * Kirk Baptiste (1984 Olympics silver medalist) * Lance Blanks (former basketball player for the Detroit Pistons) * Greg Kite (former basketball player for the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Sacramento Kings, the Orlando Magic, the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers) * Broderick Thomas (former American football player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Detroit Lions, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Dallas Cowboys) * Daniel Smith (American football player for the Carolina Panthers) * Moran Norris (American football player for the San Francisco 49ers)
You still don't get it. VY might be a cool guy, but it has nothing to do with it. We support the teams of the city of Houston and not other ones. We just do not want other teams besides Houston teams to win. And when we see Houston team fans turn Titan fans, well, it sucks. Would you want the SLC Jazz to win a NBA Championship if Vince Young was somehow drafted by them?
What about supporting player that came from the city of Houston, ones that were born and raised right in the heart of the city, played highschool football here, and has said nothing but great things about his city? You keep on saying that people like VY because he's a "cool guy" or because he is "lovely." I don't think you get it, we support him because he's a Houstonian, period. You may not think you're obsessed, but the fact that you can't stop clicking and posting in a thread about VY is just adding more fuel to the fire. If you're annoyed at the VY threads, ignore them.
ohhh, so you manically support every single professional team athlete from the city of Houston, gotcha.
i think you guys are missing Mr. Meowgi's point. root for the guy, but don't cheer for his team to win. how hard is that to comprehend? maybe i missed it myself.
