Most of us aren't haters. We're just rational. The VY lovers are the ones who need their heads examined.
i'm not any more a VY-hater than i am a Bush lover. but that particular play is more the coach's decision than the player's. who's to say Bush couldn't have gotten the first down if he got the ball? VY, by default, gets the ball. he makes the play, he's a hero. if VY doesn't make the play, it changes people's perspective slightly of him. i just think it's ridiculous how pre-Rose Bowl, everyone is screaming Bush 06. now, post-Rose Bowl, all the VY sackriders come out and think Bush will be the worst decision for the franchise.
personally I never was a big bush guy, I thought they should have traded the pick. people didn't talk about vy because he wasn't looking to come out college, what's so hard to understand about that? lastly, there are at least a couple of threads that argued the merrit of vy's pro prospects, his place in history, and so forth this past season so to suggest that vy hype started post rose bowl is ludicrous. its funny you think you guys are so rational, but you are the ones with the narrow mindedness, just like making the argument that no one wanted vy pre rose bowl, when no one knew vy was coming out pre rose bowl.
Ya'll are too easy. Of course, no one thought VY was coming out until after he put on one of the best displays in college football history on January 4, 2006. The way most fans were throwing Carr under the bus the entire season, I guarandamntee you there would have been a lot clammoring for VY (just like there were some here for Leinart) during the season.
The sad thing is I'm pumped about Bush and think Carr will do great next year. It's just that I completely understand why many people would want VY instead and that the constant bashing and personal insults (from Radio to he sucks because he only throws to wide open receivers to it's all because he went to UT to the town is obsessed to he's r****ded because he scored a 6 even though he didn't) towards VY has really stuck with me. There have been people questioning Bush's game and how it will translate to the NFL, but not with the number of personal insults that many (not all) pro-Bush/anti-VY guys have thrown around.
so explain to me why isn't there any clamoring here for the texans to draft Leinart? Apparently, he's considered a better prospect by everyone in the NFL, and projected to go in the draft before VY. yet, the VY-lovers want VY. i don't think VY sucks, i feel Bush will help us alot more.
lets get one thing straight, lienart is not hands down considered a better prospect, he's considered more prepared to step in immediately.
oh, excuse me for the technicality. i thought all pro teams wanted players who are prepared to step in immediately.
What, when I get the best of you, you resort to personal insults and faded memories that can't be confirmed by anyone else on the internet? I think you picked the wrong cliche, buddy.
Not always. Tennessee is reportedly having an internal debate between the coaches and GM. The latter wants VY because he believes he has more upside and the former want Leinart because he's more ready to step in and play at this point.
Sometimes I really hate that the internet doesn't show a person's demeanor when they're commenting. I'm going to listen to the Village People now.
but it does make a difference, teams draft for future potential all the time, especially quarterbacks. it depends on the team situation. the oilers did it when they drafted mcnair, and that worked out, atlanta drafted vick on potential and the jury's still out. carlson palmer didn't play his first year, and he was a better prospect than lienart. yet other guys are thrown in like carr, leftwich, and harrington. it just depends.
