seriously though... from games one and two AND then this game against the mavs?!? it was like night and day. whether it be getting a charge, stealing the ball, or calling the plays... he's seemed to have gotten it... rather than calling iso's for himself and needing a pick to do something. seems like a coach's player and a player's player. quick learner and a studier (is that a word?) of the game. hmmmm... ... seemed like boki had the "potential", but this guy... well... this guy could tear off pieces of malones jersey and then some. vspan for pres. after r2k of course
You used the word "solid," I am here! I agree completely, I saw the game and VSpan has eyes in the back of this head, exceptional court vision. But more than that, he has an indefinable quality, court charisma, you might call it. He has attitude, toughness. He also has an ugly shot, but at least a couple of them went in. Plus, he is a defensive pest, he took at least two charges. I really like this guy. If he keeps getting better, he might be a real find. Jeff said that he would like to see him against first line NBA talent. Well, that has already happened in the World Games, and he performed well. He still has much to prove .
I was very impressed by his play today....much better court vision and only one t/o that I saw and we got it back anyway. I am so glad rox picked him up 2 yrs ago!
yeah... it seemed as if he wanted to carry on the "greece whooping usa" personality that went on during the summer in the first couple of games, but for some reason he's gotten it. jvg is the new zen master. this is until vpan misses the game winning three of course in the conference finals.
This guy is going to be a good defender when really needed. He is tough and dosent care about taking a shot or a chance for a steal. Good stuff... lol..
Span performs will under pressure and crunch time just the way he did during FIBA. He is such a great ball handler and creates offense really well. I told u guys give him some time.....he is going to be backup PG. His defense is also really good which will win him as a backup point under JVG.
He did have a few, but many of his turnovers have been because his teamates (guys like Hayes) could not handle hi spasses. I'm sure if was playing with the starters or other good finishers, it would cut back on those TOs.
he is wearing #10 i believe the last rookie pg we had that wore #10 turned out to be a pretty decent player here's hoping that history repeats itself
v-span is always a team player. He just need time to know his teamates whic h he had never played with in a real game. It's not surprising to me he looks lost in the first two games. I think he'll become a very good player in 2or3 years, even a star.
i love how he is improving. JVG was ragging about his PG's lack of rebounding and turnovers and what does he do this game? takes care of the ball and gives a solid rebounding effort! Did that charge that he get near the end of the game count as a steal? It should!
Honestly the only differences between him and Nash is Span is bigger, more athletic, stronger, can play the 2 also, and is a very good defender, oh and of course Nash is so experienced and Span isn't so good a shooter while Nash is a fabulous shooter. Spanoulis has TREMENDOUS potential. This guy can definitely be an all star PG in time.
Also, Spanoulis has the blue collar mentality that so many championship PG's have. Nash works hard, but he doesn't have that grit to make things work no matter what. (That's not saying that Nash is worse, just that VSpan has more championship qualities.)
