Spanoulis is just playing politics. It's a feint. He's showing interest in the Greek team in order to try and "force" the Rockets to make personel moves that would favor his playing time. He know as well as we do that one of our multitude of inadequate point guards will be moved for a power forward of some sort. He'll be in the NBA again next season. I wouldn't read too much into his actions over in Greece. He's just covering his bases and trying to force a more favorable outcome for his fledgling NBA career. The prestige of the NBA is too much of a draw for him to just walk away.

maybe if we trade him or if he violated his contract then we don't have to pay him and that will give us more cap space to sign a more dominant PF.

Yeah, but when has it ever been the case in the very short "career" of V-Span that he took the onus upon himself to prove he is better than those in front of him? It is SO much easier to just give up on the NBA and be a rock star for Greek fans.

If he wants to go, let him go. If he isn't willing to do the work to be greater than what he is, I don't really want him on the team.

We don't have cap space now and his contract is tiny by comparison. It would take a MUCH bigger contract than his to get us under the cap. We probably won't be under the cap until TMac's contract ends.

exactly. he's not a hard worker. he thinks he's an allstar who is being mistreated.

still, the rockets shouldn't let him go. he is essentially an ending contract which might help facilitate a trade. also, there is interest in him.

he's worth keeping just to trade him this summer. let some other fans have this debate.

Spanoulis should replace Melina Kanakaredes on CSI:New York - he is by far the biggest greek drama queen around.

I've read in an article that the Raptors are trying to trade Calderon..Maybe we can trade V-Mac for him..watcha think? This trade could make Alston expendable to be packaged with someone for a PF that we glaringly need

If we let him out of his contract, would we still control his rights, where if he came back to the NBA in a couple of years he would have to go through us?

Sounds to me like this article is more speculation on the situation, rather than a leak from vspan's camp. Maybe Rocket G can shed some light on this?

I'm sure that the Spanoulis situation will be resolved soon. Panathinaikos can't wait forever because they need a replacement for Tony Delk and if Spanoulis can't come, they will have to search for another guard. It's all up to the Rockets right now, the moment they release Spanoulis he will immediately sign for Panathinaikos.

Honestly, I don't really care what he says in the paper, and this may be partially a culture clash going on. Aren't politics a little different in Europe? I don't think this would be frowned upon nearly as much there.

I expect Morey to make him play for the Rockets, or no one at all. I also expect VSpan to play hard if he makes it onto the floor. VSpan doesn't seem like the type to hold back no matter what.
