I didn't say he's very good because he didn't get the chance to show it, but the fact is that he got worse under Jeff.

I think you'd have to have a really low basketball IQ to actually think that Jeff Van Gundy couldn't find another coaching job in the NBA if he wanted to.

yeah. its laughable and shows how delusional some people are. if JVG wanted he could get a job in the nba at the drop of a hat.

Jeff didnt bring out the best in Vspan, but did you forget what he did with Juwan Howard and Deke last year. Also there is Tmac's much improved all around game and Yao's ability to become the most dominant low post player in the league, both of which developed under JVG.

Larry Brown is an awful coach cuz he didnt bring out the best in Steve Francis. Greg Popovich is a terrible coach cuz he hasnt yet turned Beno Udrih into a superstar. Phil Jackson is a horrible coach because look at the terms under which Smush Parker left. Point being you dont derail a coach because of one player's relationship especially one who didnt appear happy in the US at all.

JVG coached the 8th seeded Knicks to the NBA finals. V-SPAN played his way right out of the league. I predict if one of them makes it back to the NBA it won't be Wolfman Jack.

Juwan and Deke are diffrent cases because they are veterans, they were already great players. And we are talking about "destroying" a rookie here. We are not talking about from 0 to positve but from 0 down to negative. Do you the diffrence?

You can take a player out of the barn, but at the end of the day even the greatest coach can't erase the stench of sheepsh-t that comes with him.

Unfortunately for Spanoulis, his best wasn't even journeyman NBA quality. Embarrassing. But hey if he wants to keep bringing it up, I am around to laugh at him.

they are also different because they are legit NBA players and actually have a pair hanging between their legs.

Good luck vspan! Don't worry, JVG paid for his lies with his job, so there was some vindication.

You guys saying JVG's career is over could not be more wrong. Clearly I am no fan of his coaching style or management tactics, but he is a better coach than a lot of head coaches currently in the NBA.

I just think coaches like JVG have a shelf life where they wear out their welcome....he will be back, if he wants to.....or at least will get some offers, no doubt in my mind.

I am just glad it isn't here in Houston.

Van Gundy could be working as a head coach right now - I believe. To this day - I am surprised he is not the coach of the Rockets......

Sure, if square hole = the NBA and round peg = Self absorbed turnover machine with an over-inflated sense of worth and entitlement.

He's just waiting for the right offer from the knicks... wait for 3 months when knicks lose their first 9 or some games. JVG will be getting the job for at least 12 million a year.

Contrary to your personal Spanoulis-centric beliefs, the coach's job is not to develop rookies. A coach's job is to win games. And, all things considered, given the injuries the Rockets had last year, he did a great job in the regular season. I don't believe any coach could have coaxed more wins out of that team. During the playoffs they underachieved, but JVG's won in the playoffs before. He's proven his ability to coach an underdog team to the finals. What the heck has V-Span ever proven?

How do you win most games then?

As I've said, he stats proved that he was 'destroyed' by Jeff. This waht the thread is about.

This is laughable. Comparing apples (NBA) to barns (Greek League).
