It's amusing when a few hypothesis are thrown out and everyone acts like they're facts.

Facts: After a 2-days rest, Alston and Battier played season-average minutes, Yao played 1 minute more and TMac played 2 minutes more.

Crazy JVG... thoroughly exhausting Yao and TMac with all of those extra minutes! ;)

Phil Jackson was notorious for letting his players play themselves out so that they learn to manage wins and losses themselves. The starting team needs to learn how to close games, and these are experiences they must have whether it be a win or loss. The good thing is that we can afford to lose. We all talk about the learning process of the rookies, what about the starters?

This guy has great defense. but he does something jvg doesnt like, and that is gamble on defense, reach etc. but it pays off a lot and one fast break can change the momentum of the game. whats wrong with giving him 5 minutes a game to prove himself. hell we've had an opportunity to give him a chance with all of those 20 point leads lately.

first off noone rests their starters in the THIRD QUARTER. rest our starters and they wouldve went on a 30-0 run. use some commonsense.

So what if our starters played only a little more than usual. It just means that "usual" is too much. (By the way, it was one day off, not two.)

Rafer is averaging almost 39 minutes a game; this is by far the most in his career. He was getting 34 in Toronto. And he is not a spring chicken anymore; he's 30 years old. Shane is averaging almost 37 minutes. He was getting 32 minutes/game over his career in Memphis. Tracy is used to playing tons of minutes, but this is probably why he looks so old at 27. And as for Yao, after going through the Shaq meatgrinder, he should have gotten fewer minutes than usual, not more.

We need a really deep bench, and JVG is refusing to develop one.

same goes for Novak!! u know how bad we needed 3s in forth quarter against spurs and this has happened on more than one occasion so far... I dont know what jeff is thinking maybe his priority is to put wells in first to see where he fits

By all accounts, JVG is not a visionary leader who has long-term strategies for a team, nor a skillful tactician who is able to timely adjust preset game plans when facing dynamic and pressing situations on the court. He is excellent material for assistant coach, but only an above-average head coach.

JVG took an 8th seeded Knicks team to the Finals. I don't see that as above-average.

Vspan really needs some playing time. Everytime he checks in onto the court, i see everyone inching closer to the tv screen / court to get a better look at him. I think were criticizing him way too much since the expectations set for him were so high. If JVG gave him 10 mins a night, I think he can develop to become an elite PG over the next 3 to 4 years for the Rockets.
    Lets hope JVG plays him.

    PLAY NOVAK TOO.

LOL ... nobody denies an above-average coach can overachieve in an asterisked season.

good post.... i agree all the way. i trust JVG, even though he can be very stubborn. but we have a couple of young players with some real talent and a chance to really help this team, but they need to see some time on the court early in the season... even if it's just garbage time.

so we should just ignore the legions of players (current and former), analysts, and coaches who consider him one of the best coaches in the league?

    gotcha.

uh that is just about what the Spurs 2nd string actually did to our starters - they erased a 19 point lead and went up by about 10.....

so your point is our bench could not have done any worse than the starting rotation?? :D

I've been a long time defender of JVG, but heck, I cant take his crap anymore.. the loss against San Antonio was 100% HIS FAULT...

    1. he didn't call a time out until our lead was under double digits (6 if I wasn't mistaken)
    2. he came back with the same players.. wtf ??
    3. he kept VSpan and Novak on the bench, just watching.. once again, wtf??
    4. Juwan Howard IS FREAKIN STARTING!!! and I just found out that he is starting today's game too against the bulls ... wtf ??

I dont know what the heck JVG is thinking ??? why not play steve and Span ?? it's not like we have Jason Kidd or Steve Nash starting at PG... it's freakin "skip to my ****"...

btw, Bulls game just started.. I've seen a great play: Howard in the top of key running traffic: brilliant!!!
