LOL - I knew that would get ya.

I am not rewriting Sam Cassel's career, I am saying V-Span is every bit as ready as Sam was when he started, and arguably more so...

And that thread is over 2 years old...nice try junior !!

play the man... id rather see mistakes now... when it dosent count as much...

then in a playoff game when every possesion counts...

reminds me of Kobe last year... took vast majority of the shots...

but when he got shut down in the playoffs...

    people were blaming the scrubs...

how can you blame these guys... when they took basically no shots in the regular season suddenly they are expected to play well in the playoffs

Sam Cassell was far more ready than V-Span. Anyway, how can you even complain, the season is 10 games old. 10 games! Shouldn't you wait until at least January before complaining?

    Nah,

Because I heard a rumor that the games at the beginning of the season count just as much as the ones at the end.

I heard a rumor that no one remembers the first 10 games of the season when the playoffs start.

By what criteria are we judging this? If Vspan doesn't receive the same opportunity we can't even began to compare the two... other than similarities. And in that case they are extremely similar players. Sam may have had a shooting edge but VSpan seems to see the court better, comparing the two at the same stages. Without PT we will never know the answer to this question unfortunately.

They do if you are a lower seed BECAUSE of those first 10 games.

nope - never heard of someone say, "Man, if we had only gone 7-3 instead of 6-4 in those first 10 games of the season, everything would have been different"

    Anyone ever recall hearing that?

LOL - who said that, by my count we should be 9-1.....

Detroit, New Orleans/OK & San Antonio we blew big leads.....we could have and arguably SHOULD have won those games.

But, whatever, I still stand by my point that EVERY game counts.

Don't you think the Astros wished they won 2 more games at the beginning of the year?

    HMMMMMMM????

9-1? oh man....how about just worry about that big trophy they give out at the end of the year.

By the way, don't you think the Astros wished they could have won those two games at the end of the year more?

V-span should get playing time for sure, he is very experienced and highly skilled.

Even when were shorthanded at the end of the season, when Hayes had some stats and they looked pretty good, JVG would not play him for more than a few minutes here and there. Lots of games at the end he got DNP's and no experience. We played JHo to go for the win so we could miss out on one of the top 6 picks in the draft, while Minny and others were taking dives. We played Rybo and whatever other filler we had - but we did not play Hayes.

Morey talks Hayes up during the offseason. Hayes performs well in this preseason.

Now Hayes begins this season with 8 min vs Utah, and then all of a sudden he is a starter? Kinda gets the Sherlock Holmes in me wondering if JVG was still resisting the message even at Utah? And then Morey called him after the loss? And the rest is history - Rockets 5-1 with Hayes starting, 1-3 with Hayes either not playing or only 8 min.

Call him mini-Shane? Did you see Hayes was leading the league in +/- ? #1 of what - 450 -odd players?

Frustrated. Frustrated. Frustrated. Tired of Van Grumpy.

If Les wants to raise some money for his charity event this year he ought to put electrical leads on the bike seat Bonzi is riding and let us bid on Ebay to shock his *** to ride faster. It would be a big money raiser.

So what, now you think hayes is the MVP of this team? I promise you that +/- is based on a sample size not significant to mean that much. I mean, are you trying to say hayes is a bigger contributer then Yao? Then Lebron? C'mon....

we can win without hayes - we can't win without yao. So much for that +/- stat.

    No,

He is saying that JVG was not smart enough to realize that Hayes would make a difference, and not a small difference a BIG difference.

It took him over a year to realize that Hayes could play...and that is ridiculous.

An example of an inconsistent, ill thought out argument: argue about the importance of early season games and then simultaneously argue that they should be used as on the job training for young players with tendencies to make lots of mistakes.

it's all a matter of perspective....no one really knows the truth....except maybe JVG and Chuck Hayes...and maybe they don't even know.
