that video was incredible. obviously it doesnt show Span's turnovers etc.
    but he has incredible potential.

favorite part: the slow motion replay of him draining that shot on jayson williams... after he faked and juked him out. williams was sooo close to falling out of his shoes.

his best play comes when he changes his pace.. you see him running around a defender, then accelerating to a whole other speed and drive in.

i hate to see him being vangundinized like luther head was last year. i thought (we all did) he was playing superb in the first 20 games or so... then he was benched and jvg told him to stop shooting so much. head is finally back. jsut dont wanna see this happen to Span.

    awesome! go Spannn! :D

I am surprised to see so many fans in this forum to be tunned by Span. Did you all only see his TO statistics?

Can someone e-mail the video link to JVG. I think he has forgotten he has a player like VSpan. I don't care about the TO's this guy is competitor. Seems like JVG will never change unless Les decides to make the change.

you just don't get it. Never undermine your players with an unproven rookie. it's just not how good teams work. it's dumb basketball, and i'd rather go with alston then VSPAN.

Whatever. I guess that's what the Jazz are doing - playing dumb basketball.

    C Miles - 2nd year
    D Williams - 2nd year
    R Brewer - Rookie
    P Millsap - Rookie
    R Powell - Rookie

    So who's the dummy now?

CJ Miles wouldn't be playing if they had a vet SG, same with Brewer. Deron is playing because he was the 3rd pick of the draft. Who should they be playing over Millsap and Powell?

Dude, they have Boozer and Okur, and their rookies/sophomores are playing out of their minds right now. Our rookies' time will come. Just you wait and see.

Their rookies aren't 2nd rounders who can't play D or turn-o-matic machines. If our rookies were ready, they would play. They aren't. JVG has brought tons of players along...and I don't see VSPAN and Novak complaining about minutes. They know why they are on the bench and they are working hard to get off of it. They will get their chance, but they will have to earn it.

We got plenty of sophmore minutes with Chuck and Luther, and Snyder is only a 3rd year guy. Until Chuck got hurt, the Veteran Juwan Howard was glued to the bench mostly.

I think people's problem isn't with young guys not playing, it's bascially people searching for an excuse to blame the losses on the coach. So, they picked two guys who haven't played over the last few games and come out with their theory that the team would have won more had they played.

    Lame.

I agree. People just want to point fingers instead of being patient. 6-4 isn't good enough for these fans who think we need to go 82-0.

jBecause of our routine 4th quarter collapses, we could easily be 3-7 now. I think that is what is worrying most of us.

you are making some good points, but you gotta remember that JHO is starting!! please dont tell me JHO is a better defender than Novak... I know that JHO is starting temporarily because of Chuck's injury, but why not give the rookie a try while our starter is injured???

and you are right about Vspan, he is a turnover machine, but I'd rather see him turning it over and locking down Gordon and Billups than seeing Luther playing out of position, turning it over, and making Gordon look like freakin D-wade... that's not a hit on Luther, I like the guy, he's a great shooter, he does great things IN HIS POSITION, not playing PG... at least play Novak when the opponent's backcourt is killing us...

I agree Luther, although he tries, is NOT a PG. He stops, pickups the ball up, and is lazy with his passes. Notice last night's game when Alston was out of the game... it went bad fast. They pressured Tmac and no one else could help move the ball. No knock on Luther but he doesn't see the court the way Vspan does.

And we have Yao and TMac. We aren't playing our rookies at all. How do we know they wouldn't be playing out of their minds too???

It is starting to be reminiscent of not playing Chuck Hayes last year. I watched his PER all last year.
    http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2006/jh_Rockets.htm

Take a look at the PER for this year for Novak and VSpan. What the heck are we waiting for in terms of them cutting their teeth?
    http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2007/Rockets.htm

Someone will bring up +/- numbers as well. They are out there on 82games I suspect their +/- will also go up with playing time.
