Doesn't the SUPER young OC always fail in his first job? This seems like a bad idea. I'm trying to remember the last young OC without any HC experience to make it. Jon Gruden I guess? He was 34 or 35.
Now is down to the Chargers to pick their coach. The 49ers are really liking Josh McDaniels, so I think it's pretty clear he is going there. The Chargers should hire Kyle Shanahan.
wel, he got it, Wade Phillips will be the new DC with the LA Rams http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000773597/article/los-angeles-rams-adding-wade-phillips-as-dc
Real nice pick up for the rams. Wade always kills it year one!! And of course we play them next year in LA. That could be a nice road trip game!
Interesting move. I can't remember a situation where there was an Asst. HC that wasn't a coordinator.
Love it. This is more about retaining Vrabel than anything else. I like that they were aggressive with this. Now promote Rick and bring in a new GM!!!
Assuming b/c they didn't want to lose Vrabel since Romeo won't be around much longer. It's not like Romeo won't have a huge role with the defense still. Everybody gets a raise and a promotion, everybody happy, everybody wins.
It was mentioned above but this is mostly about keeping Vrable around bc he's a hot commodity. RAC DID do a great job and his contract as DC was up so this move is a promotion.
