During the clinton years this nation experienced its greatest level of prosperity. Flying wasn't as bad.
You're right. All of those future terrorists were allowed to fly in and out of the country, setting up shop for 9/11.
Some of us outside of the "beltway elite" like candidates who actually know what they're talking about it rather than those who repeat folksy platitudes to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I'm sure Palin is currently on Wikipedia, trying to find out what a "Bosniak" is. And speaking of repetition and appealing to the lowest common denominator, how many times did Palin call herself and McCain "mavericks" without following up with specifics? Maybe she believes that people will actually believe her bull**** if she says it enough times, but Biden eviscerated McCain (and her, by proxy) with his rant near the end.
Can't argue with the flying part.......of course you could say that the lack of leadership and action during the 1990's towards terrorism gave them the balls to hijack our planes and fly them into our buildings. Now on the economy I would have to say its pretty much a push. The unemployment rates are relatively the same for both spans. And for the record Clinton fought more wars then Bush, he just sent them under the disguise of the UN and called them peace keeping operations.
I have no idea who to credit this to (or even if it's just chance) but when is the last time a commercial airliner crashed? It seems like we had one every other month during the nineties.
Biden shreds McCain to pieces over his healthcare plan - "ultimate bridge to nowhere". Palin, of course, could not respond. <embed src='http://www.cbs.com/thunder/swf30can10cbsnews/rcpHolderCbs-3-4x3.swf' FlashVars='link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ecbsnews%2Ecom%2Fvideo%2Fwatch%2F%3Fid%3D4496958n&partner=cbssports&vert=News&autoPlayVid=false&releaseURL=http://release.theplatform.com/content.select?pid=5SuJd2nqtnHFwBTQznb6LGAGvbppgml1&name=cbsPlayer&allowScriptAccess=always&wmode=transparent&embedded=y&scale=noscale&rv=n&salign=tl' allowFullScreen='true' width='425' height='324' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer'></embed><br/>
I will give Palin credit for at least one thing. I really liked when she was talking about Americans needing to be more fiscally conservative to avoid any further corruption by Wall Street. Avoid bad loans. Avoid spending too much on costly possessions that could build up debt. Stick to the motto that if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. Those loans should have never been given. I think a lot of Americans were aware of it as well, but caved into it anyways. I will also give her credit for saying the government hasn't done anything with a great deal of success. While I am for Universal Healthcare, I don't think the track record of our government speaks volumes for its hopeful success. The rest I think Biden won. He did have a few talking points, but he drove them home far better than Palin. Palin bull****ted a lot better this time, and did a good job switching questions she was unfamiliar with to issues she had experience in. She camouflaged her weaknesses a lot better this time, at least for the first 15 minutes.
That's because liberal politicians are better at working with European politicians to get things done collectively. While Cowboys and Mavericks (Repulicans = Dallasites) piss off our allies. If you're Republican, you probably like Dallas more than Houston
yes. completely classless. and sean vannity sat there laughing and enjoying it. but hes a maverick and a pow and an expert on the economy. which could of been prevented had bush been reading memos warning him of planned attacks to fly airplanes into buildings. instead he was in crawford clearing brush and now we have thousands of soldiers dead, tens of thousands of iraqis dead, a polarized world, and a mismanaged war with no end in sight. bring on mccain! the guy that was runner up to...bush!
The Millenium plot was foiled under Clinton. As were plots to hijack planes overseas and fly them into the ocean. Sounds like leadership to me. The economy is a push? Are you on drugs? Clinton oversaw the biggest peace time expansion of the economy in US history. Bush has watched over the biggest budget deficits in history and now a $750 billion dollar bailout and talks about a depression. Push? Clinton fought more wars? There was the NATO supported war in Kosovo where there wasn't a single American combat death. What were the other wars? Somalia was a war? I think not. The war in Haiti? Uh? Bush, two wars, 4,000+ US deaths, and nearly a trillion spent. That's like something only Dick Cheney could compare with a straight face.
I'm sorry but this makes no sense. I wouldn't mind my local county Sherrif sounding folksy and reeking of out of touch type common sense. I want the people leading my nation to sound like they know what the hell they are talking about. Palin doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. If you prefer someone who sounds like a local clerk at the general store rather than someone who understands the intricacies of Washington and international politics then you are asking for trouble.
the good thing is palin sounded "decent" tonight. i felt really sorry for her on couric and was hoping she would perform well knowing she's representing america to the world being one of the candidates. she didn't provide much on substance, but she didn't sound stupid.
