I'm glad to see that anti-intellectualism is still alive and well within the Republican party. Biden knows what he's talking about, so let's denounce him as "pompous and arrogant" while praising Palin on appearances instead of substance!
John McCain is at the top of the ticket and arguably a "typical Washington politician." Does Palin's presence counteract McCain's phoniness?
How funny...my friend came up with this one for the debate: In anticipation of tonight's much balleyhooed Vice Presidential debate, I've decided to help spice things up for you and yours by introducing a bit of revelry to your celebration of our democracy at work. So, I came up with a drinking game for just this occasion to liven things up and make practicing your right to civic information as exciting as possible. A couple of things before we get to the rules… 1.) I don't condone drinking and driving, so make sure you're playing this game in the safety and comfort of your own home or you've designated a driver to ferry you home afterward. I'd hate for your candidate to lose a potential vote to irresponsibility. 2.) Please use a standard American 1oz shot glass. Don't try to cowboy up and use generic measurements like just pouring a three count pour into a cup. If there's anything we've learned from the Bush Administration, its that using fuzzy math and iffy judgment isn't the best way to solve problems. 3.) If you're over the age of 25, please avoid using Tequilla as your drink of choice. You probably have to go to work tomorrow and function and the go hard juice of yore should be limited to weekends only. 4.) Please do not participate in this game if you're under 21, pregnant, nursing, or a mean drunk. We don't want you getting arrested, causing Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, getting your baby slizzard, or getting stole on by an angry McCain supporter. The Rules: -Find a bottle of your preferred liquor -Find a television with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News and turn it to that channel at 9pm EDT, 8pm CDT, 7pm MDT, or 6pm PDT -Select a candidate (you don't want to do both, trust me) and when they speak, listen intently (extra points if you perfect the Joe Biden comb-over or the Sarah Palin beehive) -Have a seat The following words or phrases from Joe Biden are worth ONE SHOT: -Literally -I know -Experience -Kitchen Table -Scranton The following words or phrases from Sarah Palin are worth ONE SHOT: -Wasilla -Thanks but no thanks -Reform -Maverick -Shake things up The follwing words or phrases from Joe Biden are worth TWO SHOTS: -My friend John McCain -Amtrak -My wife, Jill -Any mispronunciation of Barack Obama's name -Any slight or slur against an ethnic group The follwing words and phrases from Sarah Palin are worth TWO SHOTS: -Hockey Mom -Joe Six-Pack -Snowmobile Racing -Any reference to a Supreme Court case that isn't Roe v. Wade -Anytime she says, "Well ya'know Gwen" before not answering a question The following words or phrase from EITHER CANDIDATE is an all drink for ONE SHOT: -Middle Class -Tax Cut -Bailout Bill (which is also my new DJ name) -Special Needs Children -Main Street Now, for the capper… ONE UNMEASURED GUZZLE STRAIGHT FROM THE BOTTLE: -If Joe Biden cries -If Sarah Palin talks about humans and dinosaurs coexisting on Earth Here's hoping you and yours have an enjoyable and informative debate viewing and a festive round of imbibition watching representative democracy at work. George Washington would be proud… not just because he was our first president, but also because he was a whiskey distiller (he was!).
I fell asleep. Oh, and folks at CNN are disappointed, they don't get the chance to laugh on somebody who falls on her face.
Yeah me to .......I will take good ole' common sense every time. Joe Biden has flip flopped more then a fish out of water. If you are objective you would see that Palin had him squirming within the first 15 minutes. Not entirely....I think he is to soft on illegal immigration and I can't stand the way he lets the dems and the left wing biased media walk on him. He's no Ronald Reagan thats for sure....but I am sure glad we had him in office instead of Al Gore....
how dare anybody expose her incompetence.. of all the nerve.. I mean, it's not like she's running for vice president or anything..
I finally figured out who Palin sounds like. You don't have to watch the whole video...just listen to the squirrel... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lc8eKmJodMU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lc8eKmJodMU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> My son watches this show every morning. I might try to get him to watch something else tomorrow.
I like this description of the debate: http://www.debatableland.com/the_de...alin-live-for-real-at-last.html?cid=133175291 Palin is reading off cue-cards that, one assumes, have complete answers written out. Not, of course, the answers to the questions she is being asked but, indubitably, answers nonetheless.
This is good old common sense? You'd rather re-live the disaster of the last 8 years than have Al Gore as President? Wow...
Disaster? I think you need to get out of the CNN closet a little more... While it has not been perfect, neither is life my friend. The previous eight years under Bill Clinton weren't exactly utopia. I am soooooooo glad we didn't have Al Gore as president. The guy is a robot and a puppet....and in case your wondering he didn't invent the internet. I know its hard to believe......common sense is alive and well outside of the beltway elite.
That's just straight nonsense. I don't need to watch CNN to understand that when this country has needed leadership and competence to deal with complex, vital issues that Bush has failed us miserably time and again. He has damaged this country beyond a level even the most extreme of liberals could not have predicted. You, my friend, are simply living in a different reality than the rest of the country.
Palin kept up with the usual rambling and bullet points, completely not answering questions just so she could repeat the notes on her cue cards. This is what I dislike about the McCain-Palin combination. It isn't 'refreshing' in any way. The idea that there is anything 'maverick' about it is laughable. Recycled, same old answers; reusing the 'good ol' boy (or in this case girl) personality to try and draw voters (which sadly works); bullet points on a cue card response method of wash, rinse, repeat. I really respect McCain and thought he would do something different and was happy that he and Obama would give everything a new outlook. Instead, McCain is playing the same old game. And it looks like Palin is more than willing to play the music for that tired dance. Disappointing.
