Hey TJ, did you hear about Specter coming over to the winning side? Did you hear about that Congressional seat in NY where a Dem won in a traditionally heavy R district? Did you see that people like the direction the country is headed? Did you notice Obama's approval ratings remain high? Did you know that Franken will soon be declared the new Senator from MN? Did you hear about W's approval ratings continuing to slip? Did you see where self-identified Repubs are now at 21%? Did you notice that the American people approve of Obama's foreign policy? I feel it's my duty to point these things out because I know you've been a little down since November and obviously, all these things are good news for Republicans.
This deserves its own thread - in a nutshell here's what happened: 1. Most conservative congressional district in NY State, traditionally R - vacated by pro-gun dem Gillebrand for senate 2. Republicans run veteran, well-known state legislator in Tedisco 3. Republicans call the race "referendum on Obama's agenda", nationally funnel millions of dollars into the race 4. Dems run little-known, complete novice outsider 5. Furtehr, little-known, novice outsider is wall-street connected VC partner, election is held right in middle of AIG bonus furor. 6. Republican is ahead w/double digit lead a few weeks prior to election Result Murphy (D) beats Tedisco (R)....lol. I think the Repubs should read Zell Miller's prescient book, "A National Party No More"......
They should read a book discussing Democrats failure to be relevant to the needs of the people? Are you saying that the Democrats did change, and the Republicans need to do the same?
Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. With the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a Junior (or Senior) senator from MN for another year.
I'm saying that, when Zell Miller wrote "a national party no more..." in/around 2004, he must have been referring to the Confederate States of America or the Republic of Texas as the nations in the term "national", because he was proven obviously wrong within 2 years, and overwhelmingly, humongously, hilariously wrong within 4.
