Culture and politics are often delinked. The problem as I see, is the lingering of cold war mentality. It exist on both sides. But with a lot of Chinese visiting and living in the US, and fewer americans ever get to see China in person, it is a lot easier for Chinese to let go that mentality. Not a single american I know who has visited China in recent years felt any hostility during their visit. If more americans can go see for themselves instead of listening to some political groups' propaganda, things will be much better.

I don't agree with this statement. I personally don't know many people who have a "cold war" mentality towards China. I'm actually not sure that I know one.

I'd say either you don't know many people or you don't realize that mentality when you see it.

This confirms my statement that why it is easier for Chinese to adjustment that mentality, because a lot of chinese living here and they see the difference between the real USA and what they used to think what it is. Americans think they know China, but few get to see it in person. They just don't realized how biased their opinions are.

I'm sure you're capable of coming up with one if you really want to.

I thought I've ticked you off enough, and you've shouted "new low" multiple times. But I still cannot get on your ignore list

My cousin lives in Hong Kong and loves it there. But I've had friends who have had some sad experiences. One friend of mine had a few crank callers right after 9/11 saying "America got what it deserved" so there is some latent resentment towards America. But I don't know how widespread it is.

I've only been to Hong Kong myself, which isn't like the rest of China from what I understand.

I think you have a lot of misconceptions about how Americans see China. We don't see China as the Soviet Union as old. People here aren't anti-China, and we don't see China as a treat. We see it as some place that's getting better organized and is one of our biggest trading partners.

China benefits a lot from America - we buy so much from China...maybe that should be appreciated by yourself?

Our chief complaint about China is it's repressive and at times belligerent foreign policy. We don't like the oppression of free speech, the arrests of religious groups as "spies", and the continued and cruel persecution of the TIbetians. We buy so much from China and it's weird for us to be using our purchasing choices to prop up one of the worlds biggest human rights violators.

You say our hate for China drives our criticism. But it's not....it's our hate for oppression and freedom that drives our criticism.

But the problem with you and the Chinese posters is that you can not accept any kind of criticism about your country. Your defense is to deflect the debate to other country flaws...there by justifying human rights violations.

This is unfortunate, and indicates insecurity and a lack of awareness.

You nor anyone else has ticked me off at all. This is just a debate. Nothing more.

I put people on ignore if they hurl personal insults at me because I won't engage with people who do that. Just like if someone did that in real life, you'd just ignore them. But to reply to their messages is saying that it's ok to let them do that. In fact, responding is more of an indication of being ticked off I think.

So whether you choose to hurl words like that - it's your choice. It really makes no difference to me. If you do, I will put you on ignore. If you do not, I will not.

I've only gotten pissed off once on this BBS - and that was with the macaca thing...but don't worry, you haven't ticked me off - not even close.

I thought you fussed about my calling you a hater or something like that and accussed me of resorting to personal attacks on multiple occasions. It is like everything you say you may deny it later on. You thought everyone was worked up like you did in the shrine thread and now you claim you've been cool all along, LOL we'll just take your words...

    (&%#&()^&$#%*&)^*&$%^#$%^)*^(*^^$^*%$%^#*_()&*^&$^(*

Do you know what I cursed you above

What reason do I have to get worked up? I don't recall any previous personal attacks from you specifically...you probably did though.

Anyway, you still aren't willing to cross that line...if you want just look at some of the posts made by others that got them on ignore...and you can just type those things and you will be there.

However, you might be better off just trying to debate the issues and not making this thread about me or Americans or American media biased and so on....but whether or not you can accept that China has been a naughty boy in Tibet.

My adivce: just leave it and move on. Some are here to debate, some are not.

You change your life and give up your freedom, you will make terrorists happy and victorious. You know what makes trolls happy? When you feed them.

That is simply because this isn't a debate. In fact, this thread isn't a debate. It is a pathetic piece of flamebait started by a troll who has pretended to be an Indian, among other things, when the needs suited him.

So I'm not here to debate. I'm here to respond to a flamebait, as well as the long list of moronic little twerps that troll here, which incidently includes yourself. The next time you debate would be your first.

It is funny thing there are still people calling this a debate instead of a trolling thread. OK, let's assume that this is a debate, let's test that theory:

I was asked by jo mama whether I would criticise the Chinese government for the incident it was proven that they INDEED shot innocent Tibetan pilgrims without reason. I said yes I would.

Then I asked jo mama to provide the PROOF that the Chinese border guards indeed shot innocent Tibetan pilgrims without reason. Namely, I'm asking him to prove that the Chinese explanation is an outright lies. Guess what, he disappeared.

So, let me ask this. Can anybody here who is critical of the Chinese government for this incidence PROVE that those were pilgrims (ie. not drug smugglers, etc) in the video and the border guards shot them without reason?

It's a funny thing, that even before investigations are carried out and the results known, China is already guilty. Always bring a good chuckle for me that those same people maintain that they are unbiased.

You think they care about proofs? They haven't learned the lesson from Iraq.

Why don't you "prove" that the Japanese committed genocide. I mean, who's to say they weren't drug smugglers?

Since you can't prove that they were not drug smugglers, Japan should be allowed to have their shrine visits.

Your schizophrenia has progressed to the terminal stages. Not only did the Japanese themselves admit to the crimes, they are found guilty in the Hague with convincing proof. So you are the only moron who would claim that the two are comparable.

Ha - I'm just throwing your debating style and logic back at you and showing how ridiculous it is.

I guess satire is beyond you.

you are a liar. go find where i asked you that. i never asked you any such question - i asked if you support the chinese government's policy of FORCED ABORTION and you said you did - this makes you a piece of trash as far as im concerned.

you are lying again. you never asked any such question of me. you are so utterly pathetic that all i can do is laugh...ha ha.

i only "disappeared" when i realized i was arguing with someone who thinks it is justified to force women to have abortions - if you support something as evil as that than there really isnt anything the chinese government could do that you would disapprove of. you are so brainwashed that there is no point, but if you are going to make up lies about what i am saying than i am going to have to call you out, liar.

No, I made a mistake. I mistook your fabricated claims of organ harvesting with your fabricated claims of Tibetan pilgrims being shot.

In other words, I mistaken one of your lies with another. That makes me careless, but still doesn't change the fact that YOU ARE A LYING SACK OF ****.

How about this then? Prove that the Chinese government is organ harvesting prisoners?

This is funny. A known liar is laughing at me. I'm sure there is a sick joke in there somewhere.
