Let me repeat this again, there is NO "WE" or "US" in your department. MFW called YOU - NewYorker, a moron, not any other Americans, nor any other posters. You are the only one spitting out this kind of garbage:

I despise dishonest people, and I hate 2-faced clowns with a passion. You acted tough on a message board with your pretending "anti-PC" stance. In real life, do you dare to pose like that? Do you dare to say in front of your colleagues that you like to rub Chinese colleagues in the wrong way, love to get their goat, and it's really funny to you? Even if you are in the executive management of largest company in New York, you will be fired without discussion. Maybe you can then start to claim your noble intention to fight against PC. Even if you are still an a$$ in real life, you will be a 2-faced, fake but political correct a$$.

I am more and less biased in any debate I entered, and many posters are. But still, other posters are here to discuss some issue and debate, but you are here to troll and insult a whole ethnical group, in many related threads. Yes, I am calling you out, and many other posters are calling you out, even after you labeled some non-Chinese American posters as "Chinese posters".

Can you point out one single poster on this board, who's there with you to form a "WE" or "US", to insult the whole ethnical Chinese group? Let's hear about it, and wait and see whether he/she agrees with you.

I was thinking of staying out of this thread but as a Chinese-American I don't see either Chinese or Americans coming off very well here.

This line of reasoning is fairly weak as many of the posters who are criticizing the PRC have also very harshly criticized the US Governments actions in Iraq. You can ask posters like Basso, Hayestreet, Giddyup and others who support the US Administration about what sort of criteria this board in general applies to the US government. According to them this board is chock full of the hate America crowd of the likes of Sam Fishers, New Yorkers and Deckards.

So yes many of the posters who you are accusing of having a double standard don't and criticize the US as much, actually more so since US topics are more common here than PRC topics, as the PRC.

Actually we are tryng to replace the culture. That's the whole point of GW Bush's argument of bringing democracy and freedom to the Middle East is somehow changing them into westernized secularists.

    But that's a minor point.

You complain about how negative Chinese posters are yet you don't hesitate to call them brainwashed goons? Civility is as civility does. Certainly this is a heated issue but at the same time you, New Yorker and a few others seem quick to stereotype all the Chinese posters as being brainwashed goons. If you notice they actually agree with many of your points regarding human rights violations in the PRC and even criticize the CCP. That certainly doesn't sound like the actions of brainwashed goons of the CCP?

I would say they get your goat too since you also seem to get heated over this subject and have also engaged in name calling. Further again I find it hypocritical of someone like you who has argued before that you don't want your background used against you and that people can overcome their background, since as an Indian you can not be offended by the term "Maccaca". To now go around accusing the Chinese posters of all being trapped by their background. Have you considered giving them the consideration that you would like others to extend to you?

Obviously I don't agree with other Chinese posters on the issues of Tibet. I don't agree with most of them on several issues including Taiwan. What I do understand these are sensitive issues and while I think Chinese do occasionally get very defensive over such issues its better to debate the openly and respectfully than go around stereotyping and name calling.

And that goes for both sides.

I appreciate your even handedness on these topics and your ability to be objective.

In all fairness, I only called the brainwashed goon a brainwashed goon. I don't kick dogs, I'm not mean to old people but sometimes you have to call them like you see them.

Planned cultural assimilation is kind of cultural genocide.

I face the reality that you are trying to use behaviors to suggest intent when it comes to China, but abandoning it when it comes to America. The reality is this lack of consistency renders your postion on China's affairs hypocrite.

See, when it comes to America, your home country, you stopped using its behaviors against the Iraqis to suggest intent. Instead, you resort to proclaimation of intent to suggest intent. This is blatant double standard. I am not gonna waste my time with you unless you face the reality of your double standard.

    Good day.

I agree. You shouldn't waste the time. I was totally against the war on Iraq from the get go. Afghanistan was a primary target, and for good reason. You could possibly make a case for Saudi Arabia as well. And Syria. North Korea.

Iraq? I didn't see it. At the time we invaded there was a resolution by the UN that would have placed essentially an occupying force inside Iraq through peaceful means. Saddam was resisting these efforts and if all had gone through as planned we would have had many allies if an invasion became necessary. The illusion that Iraq was a direct threat to the United States at that time was ludicrous. The fact that terrorists weren't there in Iraq until we came in is a sad irony.

We as American people were told lies from our government before the invasion and we still hear them from our president now. I always looked at this situation objectively and not emotionally. I knew it was a mistake. Invasion of that country may have become necessary at some point for the safety of the world, but at that time it was not. I have no doubts that once Iraq was given a clean bill of health that Saddam would have started back up. Now look at our country as a result of this invasion ("intervention" as one poster uses it in his signature). Our position is weeker in the eyes of the world. Our troops are spread thin so that not only can we not get "mission accomplished" in Afghanistan we can't put teeth into any of our threats towards North Korea.

Add to that a very tenuous reltionship with nuclear Pakistan and the world is an interesting place these days. Bye cold war. Hello cold war.

You will have to point me to your thread on American policy instead of debating this here, however, as this thread happens to be about CHINA and TIBET. Your consistent defense of the Chinese government's actions in Tibet based on actions of America does nothing for me.

the parallels between terrorists and the Tibetan people that you continue to make simply don't make sense to me. You are raised to believe that those people are terrorists and with today's climate any country can take an action and use that excuse. It still doesn't make it true and it certainly doesn't justify terrible actions.

    Regards,
    Brock

Well, I don't talk politics, religion, or race in a job - it's just not professional...nor would I approve of any of my employees doing it either. And I have pulled them aside and warned them of being careful about conducting themselves in a professional manner at the workplace as I can't defend them if they cross the line. (HR is a pain ya know - and companies would fire anyone versus face a lawsuit). So no, at work I tone it down for obvious reason. I hope you don't call people morons and clowns at work - do you tough guy?

But this isn't work. And most of my friends who are Chinese are fairly ashamed about Tibet. I met one girl in college who was from China and we argued a lot about Tibet. She was convinced that China "liberated" Tibet. Very nationalistic like you. I said it was genocide then - and I still say it now. We'd have drinks and argue and argue...but never once did she accuse me of being a moron, or a liar, or anti-Chinese. But I certainly made fun of her for her stance. "How come China doesn't liberate North Korea???? or Mongolia?" When is China going to liberate Taiwan? Maybe China should liberate Iran???

And you know what makes if funny? Is that you resort to name-calling...that instead of debating you instead first make excuses, dodge the topic, make up incredulous explanations and yeah, I'm calling you out as being in denial about the country you love so much. Your love and passion has blinded you - so much so that when I criticize your country, you come back with this poision dribble - character attacks.

It's unfortunate that you can't laugh but instead take this route.

And it's ashame that you had to resort to name calling, because now I have to put you on ignore, and won't ever get to see your post even if you have an intelligent point to make. You lost my audience. But if it makes you feel better - if it helps you get your anger out...and helps you feel better about killing people in Tibet...go ahead and call me some names. That's better then acknowledging the truth right?

Nice debating with ya. Hope you find your goat.

This part is funny. If I BrockStrapper came on and said I raped his and your moms last night, I say I didn't do it because that I really didn't, I am obviously being defensive.

And you are not here to debate are you? Idiots like you don't know the first thing about debates.

And you are an ignorant moron. By the way, that is not my debate tactic, but it is the statement of a fact.

Did I tell you that this is another standard American debate tactic?

You took the words out of my mouth. I am a proud Chinese American and I take pride in both my Chinese heritage and my American citizenship. After seeing what has transpired between the posters here, it makes me sick to my stomach and it makes me question what do I really represent in the whole grand scheme of things.

so sad - is there no civility left?

No you attack our entire country? What a guest you've become here!

You're defensiveness is indicated by your anger and sensitivity - not your denial.

    Anyway, bye bye...

29-17 without counting the "Other" votes. I guess most people on this board do NOT think this is genocide.

Ideally, you should represent what's right in you mind. Although it's hard, because no matter how hard one tries, no one can be 100% objective.

you shouldn't be too stunned by the level of vileness that has transpired.

This anger towards America we're seeing has been pent up a long time. It's nothing new, it's coming from within the Chinese posters. As soon as Americans started critizing China on Tibet, you could sense they just weren't disagreeing, they were fighting an angry war of self-respect. And now we can all see that anger toward us...the hate for the U.S. - out in the open.

That's what I felt and what I wanted to finally come out. And thanks to MFW and other chinese only fans, we are seeing this anger...and now we can address the large issue....

Why do these china only fans harbour so much resentment toward the U.S.? Do they think that we think we're morally superior? Perhaps that it's....it might be historical when there was a time like that - when Americans looked down on China. That legacy may create a type of inferiority complex. I see a bit of the same thing in Indians from India but Indian Americans are unaware of it because they know the real story.

So this is what I think is really happening. These Chinese Only Fans, think when we criticize China's policy in Tibet - we are saying "see...look, we americans are better then the chinese - hahahahahahah"....so they get all bent out of shape and get angry - and we're like - yo, did you have a bad morning or something? Waz up with that?

But now...we see, they think we look down on them. It all makes sense.

But a lot of people still do - so it shows that my POV is not a total outlier and completely off base.

But 70% do think this was at least a human's right violation (including the other votes), which i think is a pretty huge statement.

I mean 38-8 people say this was messed up what China did. Only 8 people felt that China acted in the right. Only 8.

Well, I can certainly attest that the situation is messed up.

However, I don't think this isolated incident is the best representative of what's going on in Tibet. For one thing, I don't know if the facts in the video are accurate and I don't know how the footage was cut. You ask what motivation do Romanians have to badmouth China, they don't. However, the media likes controversies and they get more viewers if they can entice them to watch their program. Nothing makes viewers watch a news segment quite like one on human rights violation. That may be a generalization, but that's what I think.

China has proven to torture and execute people on quite a few accounts, and I believe any of those accounts would be a better representation to your view.

I don't exactly know what constitute as a genocide, but I believe that if we are to call this genocide, it would lessen the impact of what the word is associated (e.g. Holocaust and Ruwanda). I can agree with you that many bad things are happening in Tibet. I also believe that there are some good elements in the work as well (e.g. hospitals, longer life expectancy, free choice of religion and the abolishment of a religious regime filled with slavery and cruel human rights violation on it's own accord), while you believe that it's genocide. I hope we can agree to disagree on this because I'm losing interest in participating on this subject. At the same time, if you continue to belittle my homeland, you will find yourself successful in "goating" me.
