I almost feel like JVG is pocket Aces. Rockets know JVG is ONLY going to pick the Rockets job IF he comes back. So, at worst, they could have him. In the meantime they just keep doing their fact finding tour.
No on Nurse. We have already looked at the RGV source with Chris Finch. I want a team that plays NBA basketball...
[rquoter]Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt is interviewing Monday for the Houston Rockets' vacancy, according to league sources. The Rockets have also scheduled interviews with former head coach Jeff Hornacek and Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas. The Rockets have already interviewed four candidates, Bickerstaff, Chris Finch, Sam Cassell and Mike D'Antoni last week. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...oach-david-blatt-interviewing-houston-rockets[/rquoter]
The rockets could interview 20 people for this job. I may think about applying for this, may have a chance to get an interview too.
I'm torn between Vogel and JVG, but I voted for Vogel since there won't be a rust factor. He's proven to be analytically friendly. So of course is JVG, I mean the guy attends Morey's MIT Sloan conferences, and he's a local guy. If JVG comes with Battier as an assistant? Then I'm going for JVG-Bats
That's who the Rockets have interviewed for the position? Doesn't sound like they value head coaching anymore than they did when they brought in McHale.

Nothing scheduled on JVG. Does not necessarily mean anything. They know where he is. LOL nothing scheduled with JVG or Vogel, but in the meantime they are interviewing other candidates like crazy
IMO: For JVG, this good news and only means that we could get him if we wanted him. For Vogel, i'm skeptical b/c it could mean he has little interests
They know where he is? Compare that with the the approach SAC employed to hire the coach they wanted. I am losing more and more confidence in our front office.
I don't see it that way at all. If JVG was interested, wouldn't he have spoken to the team by now? And I'm not exactly reassured by the news that we're talking to Vogel's rep? Why not Vogel himself?
[rQUOTEr]With one potential candidate off the market, the Rockets coaching search moved to its second week with meetings ranging from interviews with former head coaches David Blatt and Jeff Hornacek to a sit-down on Tuesday with TNT analyst and former Rockets guard Kenny Smith. The interviews, according to a person with knowledge of the schedule who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the process, are part of a wide-ranging process with the Rockets no closer to a decision. Former Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger reached agreement with the Sacramento Kings on Monday, just two days after he was dismissed by Memphis after requesting permission to meet with the Rockets and Kings. The Kings are the sixth team to have selected coaches this offseason, following the Timberwolves (Tom Thibodeau), Wizards (Scott Brooks), Suns (Earl Watson) and Lakers (Luke Walton.) The Knicks, Grizzlies, Pacers and Rockets still have openings. The Rockets are scheduled to meet with Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas late in the week after the NBA predraft camp in Chicago and other assistants could also get interviews, indicating that they will continue with their broader search. The Rockets had been in contact with the representative of former Pacers coach Frank Vogel. They have also interviewed associate head coach Chris Finch and former Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni. Though there have been indications of mutual interest, no interview has been set up with former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy. http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...with-former-Cavaliers-coach-David-7423104.php[/rQUOTEr]
I just hope too that whoever we hire, Houston gives him (or her) final say on assistant coaches. Seemed like with McHale they thrusted Chris Finch on him, and possibly a few others. I have to think this immediately shows players who the real boss is. I like Finch, but you have to trust the HC to pick his staff.
This is taking way to long. Morey said a this would be a thorough search. No real substance to it yet. I mean has-beens and never was is all to come in to interview so far. Wheres JVG or Vogel in all this. Griz going to grab Vogel and JVG going to stay on tv while Rockets are interviewing Kenny Smith SMH........
