A mediocre team in an godawful Eastern conference. There is no way that team would have made it to the Finals had it been in the West where there were competent teams. He's a good player, and a HoF I guess, but one of the greatest of all time? Please. He's not even in my top 10 for this decade. I've watched basketball and the Rockets since I was a little brat. Don't act like I don't understand basketball just because I'm not some idiot high schooler ready to jump all over Iverson and his iso play.

AI was the 76ers.
I wouldn't blame him, he was playing on a losing team and was clearly better than Mike Conley. I wonder why they didn't want to start him, he clearly would of made the team better and the Grizzlies would of probably had a winning record.
You know I hate when people bring up the east vs. west thing, as if it doesn't count because you're in the east. Bottom line is AI was a great player not just good. Dude had one of the biggest heart for a basketball player you will ever find. I remember when I saw him in person up close he's no taller than 5'11 and weigh about 160. The first thing that came to my mind was I can't believe this is the guy that be scoring like crazy in the NBA. At his size he has the 6th highest ppg all of time so please believe he's one of the greatest players to play the game of basketball.
LOL He looks to have watched it way more than you. Anyway, I hope you realize, if AI doesn't play, there is no chance of him actually playing in the ASG. Just like the last two years, when a pretty massive following couldn't even get Antoine Walker and Stephon Marbury in the top five of the final results (with the lower limit being some 30k votes in the former case), let alone the actual game. Sure, you could argue that AI is actually an All-Star caliber player, but ultimately, the NBA decides who plays in the ASG if the fans are "wrong".
I consider this to be one of the biggest myths in basketball. AI's team wasn't mediocre, they were just defensive minded, like a team consisting of Battier, Mutumbo, Chuck Hayes and Ariza. I agree with Kojirou; I like AI's competitive attitude on the court, but aside from that I don't he's worth of the hall of fame at all.
Its not about how many points you score, it how efficient you are at scoring them. If Aaron Brooks shot 200x times a game he'd average 60 pts a game. Does that mean he's the best pg of all time? Points scored don't matter as much as the FG%, and AI's FG% sucks.
Career 889 877 41.4 .425 .313 .780 3.7 6.2 2.2 .2 27.0 His FG% doesn't suck, it's not great but it's decent and enough to get the job done.
His career fg% is 42 I believe that's not great, but for a 5'11 sg its far from back if you ask me. Yes he took a lot of shots but a lot of times he had to his wasn't that great.
His time is up. He had a choice, but he made the wrong decision. He will leave NBA this way, but no one will forget what he did for NBA. He was at one point the best and greatest in the league, but now he's a bumped up mediocre player who can't adjust.
I'm really sick of hearing this "Iverson shot so much because he had to" argument all the time. You know why Iverson's teammates were such lousy offensive players? Because Iverson couldn't coexist with anyone else that needed the ball. There's a long list of pretty good offensive players that got shipped out of Philly because Iverson was either unwilling or unable to share the ball.
I heard Stackhouse left Philly because he wanted the ball and wanted to be the man. Iverson was the one who didn't have a problem playing with him his rookie year. I think AI did an ok job of sharing the ball sure he wasn't Steve Nash but he was never a pg. I believe he avg. almost 6 dimes a game. I don't recall him chasing anyone out of Philly because he didn't want to share the ball.
