I like what I have seen but it is hard to see how well it will translate, I would take what Von has done in the NBA over him at this point. The known over the unknown. DD
DD . . . top 3 pick??? Ahead of guys like James Harden, Ricky Rubio, even Earl Clark??? You are really much too intelligent a poster to make statements like these. Your man-crush on Von Wafer is well-documented. I tend to agree with you that the Rockets could really use him, especially next year when they will be in desperate need of scorers. But you have gone completely off the deep end if you categorize him as being ahead of some potential franchise players. If you continue down this path, you will potentially start to lose all credibility as a basketball fan. I'm not saying that you aren't mostly correct in your opinions. But scale them back a bit. That's all.
Von doesn't have superstar potential, you don't draft him top 3. Yes he is a good scorer and he can be an excellent role player as long as he keeps his head straight, but you don't draft a Von as top 3. Like Bima said, you are smarter than this DD.
Wafer has been this league for 4,5 years, but only had one good season. How do you know that is not a fluke? I think Von has SuperStar talent, and whether he reaches that level will all be down to whether he has it upstairs. DD
Maybe not, but last year would have been his rookie year in the NBA, so I give credit to a guy who bounced around, didn't give up, worked hard, got better and found his nitch. I don't think he is anywhere near his ceiling. DD
I've got a contact high just from reading DD's Von posts. Your supposed to pass it DD! Pass it the right hand side!
DD, you know this is an absolutely absurd statement. Of course NCAA guys are hopeful they can make an impact - they have yet to play an NBA game! Apples to oranges. And I have to agree with BimaThug on this one.
. . . and Von Wafer's jock strap! Seriously, DD, I'm thinking of organizing an intervention at this point. You talk about Von "finding his niche". Yet, you put him ahead of several potential franchise players. Franchise players do not have a "niche". Players like Von find their "niche" around franchise players. To claim that you would draft Von Wafer ahead of James Harden, you would be laughed out of the room by every single GM in the league, Morey included. Von is a talented young players with a very good ability to score the ball. I think we can all agree on this. But you are going way overboard with your love for, and opinion of, Wafer. Scale it back . . . PLEASE. For your own sanity and all of ours as well.
I was comparing Von to the players coming INTO the league and whether as a GM I would want him, or one of them. The way I worded it was poor. And yes, I would take Von over Harden....right now. DD
Von doesn't have superstar potential. He can maybe be an all-star once in this league but even that is reaching. He has so many things that he has to improve on that he is more than likely going to be a great role player in this league.
I figure it out. You probably never watched Harden's game before. At least, you didn't watch his play in orlando summer leauge. But, you will have a chance to watch his game in vegas leauge if you want.
I think he has All Star talent....but has to put it all together in the right situation. I like Von a lot... DD
