Chase is athletic for a white guy, he does not have the explosiveness wafer had.

In Rashad McCants best year in the NBA he averages: 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists on 45% shooting from the field and 40% from the 3 point line. Oh and majority of the games were off the bench (only started 24 of 75 games that year)

In Von Wafer's best year in the NBA he averaged: 10 points 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Wafer has been on like 10 teams in 5 years there is a reason for that.

Also I cant comment on Jermaine Taylor's NBA career because it hasn't started, but he was an absolute BEAST in college. Anybody that watched UH basketball/ conference USA would know (I know thats not too man people lol)

I loved wafer last year too, but lets be real, hes not the missing piece and we have 2 second rounders that have more talent then him, are younger than him, and actually have their heads on straight.

ahahahha how can u tell? they havent even played a single nba game. Im tire of rockets getting new guys and not signing players like wafer who have proven themselfs.

Proven himself to be a malcontent with an attitude and ego problem, which is why no team has been willing to make him a constant fixture of their future.

I've never seen such a big deal made over 9 points per game, questionable shot selection and a below-average defender before.

I'd rather roll with the punches and give JT his minutes, and Budinger his minutes as well.

If Wafer had attitude issues on a team that went to the second round of the playoffs, he'll certainly act up on a team that's questionable, at best, to even make the postseason.

This is not the team where Wafer could afford to jack at will and not worry about passing or defense. He could afford to do that last year because he was the 7th or 8th man, but he couldn't get away with that on this year's team.

Wow this Von thread is still going,

Give it up, he's gone and he isn't coming back for the time being. Can we move on with the season. Geez, we've had way too posts on Von Wafer. It is almost as if he were the next coming of Jordan.

I think it's because the story is a classic story of an underdog. Bounced around the league for years, got dunked on badly by a nobody, didn't get any playing time, etc. Then when given the chance, ended up being a pretty solid bench player. Too bad I don't think his story is going to have a fairytale ending though.

I fully supported signing Wafer until he got chucked out by the biggest player's coach in the league in one of the most critically important games the Rockets have played in the last 10 years. If you can get chucked under those circumstances, then you're a knucklehead who is not even remotely worth the 5 million that the Greeks offered him. I could see resigning Wafer possibly for like 2 million, but 5? Hell to the F no. I'll take my chances with Budinger and Taylor then.

We could have used Von but not for $5 million a year, he was too risky for that much $$$$.

He and the Rockets made the right decision.....if he blossoms over in Greece we can sign him next year, or the year after.
