I honestly was a huge Von Wafer fan, but I much rather let Budinger have his minutes and let him develop.

Me too. I would have had no problem with them resigning him last summer, and I think they would have had he not have a bad attitude and complaining about his mins. I don't think the rockets would have paid 6 mill to find his replacements.

Are we going to have a thread everytime Wafer plays somebody in the states?

It's a bit too much for a one-dimensional, egotistical role player, isn't it?

exactly what i was thinking. no matter how good he is playing, he is not going to be a rocket this year. In the future maybe...

As someone else stated, there are too many players in the nba that does exactly the same thing von does. He is a good player and someone i would like to have on the rockets, but except for being a scoring spark off the bench, he is nothing more. I doubt he will ever be a starter on a decent nba team. There are too many players out there that would do wat he does better. For some reason he reminds me of a old jerry stackhouse type player off the bench for scoring purposes only (offcourse not nearly as good as stackhouse).

Uhh, for the people that are comparing Ariza to Wafer (for some reason...)

Wafer >>>> Ariza on offense. Look at Wafer, regular season last year, vs. Ariza preseason this year. I know we aren't playing against the best competition yet, but Ariza's FG percentage has been horrible.

Ariza >>>> Wafer on defense, but defense can only get you so far, before turn into another Battier clone.

Would you rather have someone who could give you instant offense, or someone who could give you instant defense?

I might be in the minority here, but I am glad Wafer is gone. He was good on offense, but just too much of a bone-head!

    I can't stand bone-heads!

Unless Wafer decides to get his head out of his ass, he will never even sniff Ariza's jock-strap, let alone get anywhere close to V-Max's jock-strap!

Here is a non-exhaustive list of people the Rockets signed who could put the ball in the basket and excite fans, but unfortunately, that amounted jack because of their proneness to being bone-heads:

    -Stromile Swift
    -Bonzi Wells

    Good-riddance Von Wafer! Welcome C-Bud! :D

I'm personally hoping for an hourly thread everyday on Von Wafer, probably the most athletic player the Rockets have ever had.

I'd like to suggest a format for thread titles, so that we can easily sort them for faster access.

    Example:

Day: 10-12-2009 Hour: 09:00 Focus Activity: Bowel Movement

Then below we can discuss the details of the focus activity in the thread. This will ensure that we get constant updates on the most Lebron-like player in Rocket's history.

Daryl Morey talked about how Von's athleticism was elite for the NBA.

    I believe DM knows ....

Wafer's athleticism was amazing, I have never seen a guy that was able to weave in and out of guys like he was able too. He drove in the lane at impossible angles that I have never seen.

Anyways, I will keep you guys posted on how he does. I am psyched that they are playing the Cavs since I get the Cavs local channel.

Lol at people going bonkers over Vonfire.

Wafer is not "elite" by any stretch, its just that he has two things that work really well: he has a nice shot and he has good lateral quickness. Combine that with decent athletecism and you have a pretty nice offensive package. You can use your lateral quickness to slip past opponents and finish, or you can take the outside shot if thats what the opponent gives you. Comparatively, I'd say he's a more athletic Matt Barnes. Of course he balances his gifts out with low iq and being moody, so I guess that's why nobody wanted to give him more than 2 million. I don't know how his coaches in Europe are doing but considering Adelman had such a hard time controlling him his coach must be tearing his hair out right about now.

With that said comparing him to LBJ is just plain ridiculous makes me question how much kool-aid DD drinks on a daily basis. Buff Wafer up to Malone proportions, see if he still has his quickness and then we'll talk.
